"True Friends Are Hard To Find",

Keep smiling, keep shining,
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure, that`s what friends are for. For good times, and bad times, I`ll be on your side forevermore, That`s what friends are for.... Kailah Carter and Mona Richards met at the University of Florida and became fast friends. This unlikely duo came from opposites sides of the track. Mona is the only child of rich socialites, while Kailah, the only girl of five children, is from a working class family. Her parents provided the necessities: food, clothing and shelter. Despite their differences, their bond is so strong that they love each other like sisters. A sisterhood bond that they thought was unbreakable until one betrayed the other in the worst way possible - she slept with her man. Turning their backs on each other and their friendship, they each head in different directions in life. Each not being completely whole or happy without the other. Kailah, living in Chicago, is successfully climbing the corporate ladder. She meets the man of her dreams in client Keith Terrance. But Keith is living a lie. A lie that could have serious repercussions on Kailah and their life together. Mona, living in Miami, has watched her blossoming career as an attorney take a tragic downward spiral. The tables have turned as Mona is now struggling with her financial situation and the aftermath of a life altering event. A light appears at the end of the tunnel as Mona meets Davis Simpson. Davis is the man of her dreams minus his two spoiled teenage daughters and a crazy ex-wife determined to be apart of his future and not the past. Mixed Messages started slow and somewhat confusing with a skewed time-line. I contemplated putting the book down, but I kept going. I'm glad that I did as the book did pick up. Now the time-line on the other hand remained skewed. There were times where you didn't know where you were in time or chunks of time passed without explanation. Weeks and months came and went with the flip of a page. Fortunately the ongoing drama in the lives of Kailah and Mona made up for the confusion and lapses. Solid debut effort. I look forward to Ms. Williams' sophomore novel. Reviewed By: Toni

A True Page Turner........Mixed Messages,
This review is from: Mixed Messages (Paperback)
I was given this book to read by a close friend and absolutley LOVED it. As my title states...a true page turner. I was able to relate to some of Kaliah and Mona's conversations pertaining to men, the working field and almost all of their arguements.
I was very surprised how well the book was written, easy to follow, transitioned into the new chapters very smoothly and was very detailed. I am looking forward to many more exciting books to be written by this author, LaTonya Williams. She seems to be off to a GREAT start and I will recommend this book to all of my friends. Congratualtions Mrs. Williams on an awesome first novel!!!

Do you get the message?,

Mona, is the light skinned chubby rich girl who has to put up a front to mask her feelings on relationships and family. She meets Kailah, the dark skinned down to earth sistah who turns heads at all moments. Their friendship is tested as all friendships are.
Mona gets over the lose of her college boyfriend and gets into the real world of baby mama drama and understanding that being rich is always not what it cracks up to be. Can Kailah keeps her head together and her body tight in order to welcome home the one man that has not only brought her true love but a family closer?

Mixed Messages is the debut novel by Up and Coming Author, LaTonya Williams. It is the story of 2 best friends, Mona and Kailah. Mona appears to have it all but underneath, she has issues that come to surface after an unexpected event shakes her life. Kailah is from the school of hard knocks, life has dealt her blow after blow......she almost loses her friendship with Mona after allowing her jealousy to cause her to make a bad decision. This book is the perfect blend of drama, sex, romance and friendship. It will make you laugh, and cry. I give this book 5 stars, it was picked as Book of the Month for our book club. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!! Reviewed by Shay C of PeoplewholoveGoodBooks

Nothing like reading about someone else's drama. This book keeps you at the edge of your seat, not wanting the end of the book to come, but wanting to know what's going to happen next! If you think you'll never be able to read an urban chic lit and find a message and a lesson than you must read Mixed Messages. Mixed Messages will teach you that no matter how unforgiveable something may be, you can always find it in your heart to forgive! Congratulations to Latonya on her debut novel. I'm looking forward to reading many more by her!

Great read for all people,

Mixed Messages was great reading. I truly enjoyed the book because it deals with a lot of real life issues. It deals with being single, friendship, and marriage. I really enjoyed Keith and Kayla's (their two daughters also) story because I was able to feel connected with Kayla and Keith. Keith was such a good husband to Kayla (just like mine) he knows how to care for his woman, be a father, face his shortcomings, and be a man at the same time, wow! So sisters, if you want to read about a real man and about real people, you must read MIXED MESSAGES. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's (LaTonya Williams) books. Great Job!

I started reading this book on a Saturday afternoon and finished it Sunday evening, I simply could not put it down. Latonya wrote this book in a way that kept my interest from cover to cover. When I was finished reading the book I felt like I knew Kailah and Mona personally. I am looking forward to reading many more of Latonya's books. You have a fan.

This book was an enjoyable read. It made me think about how important friendships are and despite their past differences and problems, Mona and Kahilah were there for each other, until the end. The book showed the importance of womanhood and I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. Kaliah was a cool girl, until she slept with Mona's ex-biyfriend. They end up being friends again. Then Kaliah cheats on her husband while he's in jail, with a guy from work. This book is about friendship and how these two women change and grow from being in college. I liked this book because it was on friendship. If you've had a friend whose deceived you, and you all get your friendship back, then this book is for you. It is sooo good.
