I do not recommend this book because it does not give the children examples to work with. Therefore, they are unable to work independently without constantly seeking help.

I am a math teacher who does a lot of tutoring and remedial work with students. I have researched workbooks that my students can use, and this is by far the best I have found for 7th and 8th grade. The book's pages are perforated so they can be removed by the parent or teacher. Answers are in the back of the book. It is not a textbook, but it does include limited, simple instructions for each topic covered - and it covers a lot. Another reviewer thought it was lacking because it had no examples. However, examples are beyond the scope of this practice workbook. I say, if you need examples, get a textbook. The purpose of this workbook is to provide practice so 7th and 8th grade students do not forget math basics at the time they're beginning to study algebra. I believe it fills that need exceptionally well. |
