5.0 out of 5 stars Australian cd part 2 with bonus mixes., January 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Mixed Up World Pt.2 (Audio CD)
This is the second cd in the Australian cd single set for "Mixed Up World". The single comes with remixes from her past hits collection. The mixes are:
1- Mixed Up World (LP Version) 3:49
2- Take Me Home- Sneaker Pimps Remix(4:41)-not as good as the original mix.
3- Murder On The Dancefoor- Phunk Investigation Vocal Mix(8:34)-more harder in the house mix than the other disco mixes done.
4- Get Over You-Almighty Pop'd Up Mix(7:14)another beautiful Almighty Mix.
5- Music Gets The Best Of Me- Flip 'N Fill Remix(6:05)- so far the only mix I have seen of this song.
A great ep of club mixes from Ms. Sophie Ellis Bextor.

4.0 out of 5 stars A mini greatest hits collection!!, April 12, 2004
This review is from: Mixed Up World Pt.2 (Audio CD)
After a string of hits, Sophie manages another one with ease. One of her latest singles, Mixed Up World has the sassy sound of Sophie mixed with fantastic music. This is sure to be a hit in the clubs, and also in your living room if you're that way inclined!

Like most Sophie songs, it tells a story and here we are told of a woman reassuring herself (and the listener) that it's OK if you're a tad confused, because you're tough enough to handle it! Sophie vocals have such attitude and really work well with these lyrics, while the beat behind the track really gets you going. Top marks to Sophie for co-writing the song as well!

This Australian Exclusive edition includes remixes of four of Sophie's other hit singles from her first album. The stand out remix for me is of "Take Me Home", which really concentrates on the vocals in the song. Although there is a presence of some interesting beats, I really enjoy the way the vocals are slowed down to create a completely different sound to that of the original version.

There have been many remixes of "Murder on the Dancefloor" and I think this fact makes me enjoy this particular remix a little less than I may have at first listen. It's simply another remix of the overplayed, once enjoyable song. Nevertheless, it would still be likely to fill any dancefloor!

The "Get Over You" mix is awesome! The first minute and a half really draws you into the track and leaves you waiting in anticipation for the cheeky vocals to begin! The sped up version of the song really suits this remix and is much more memorable than the album version. There are some really cool beats throughout this remix that gets that foot tapping in an instance!

The "Music Gets the Best of Me" remix is done by the talented Flip n Fill, and is a true winner! What a way to end a value for money single. We are introduced to the track by Sophie's "Uh Ah Ah's" and the rest of the song is sped up to create an awesome dance track. Trance-like at times, this track creates a really awesome atmosphere even in your bedroom, and leaves you ready to head out on the town for a Sophie-like boogie!

These four remixes are some of the best of Sophie's that I've heard, and you are left wondering what the bonus tracks are; the remixes or the title track! Buy this simply for the remixes because you won't be disappointed!
