I was looking for glasses that resisted chipping/breaking and that I could put in the freezer for beer. I should add that my family is REALLY, REALLY HARD on glasswear, replacing it frequently. At this point, 6 months later, we have only lost 2, I count that as a victory in our house. I considered paying the extra money for the tempered glass (about twice the cost)but these have worked out great for us. I keep 8 in the freezer and that still leaves 16 (now 14 :) in the cabinet. Great glasses, great value!
