Veteran music journalist Rick Clark conducted hundreds of revealing interviews with some of the biggest names in the industry to create this extraordinary title. Tony Visconti, Danny Elfman, Eddy Offord, Trevor Rabin and Roy Thomas Baker are just a few of the contributors who share their special studio practices, tips, and anecdotes. A truly thorough look at the recording world, this in-depth reference guide covers everything from recording strings and horn sections to using creative production techniques on the latest musical styles. Candid interviews with expert tips will enlighten you with the knowledge that has led the featured producers, engineers and composers to huge industry successes and millions of record sales. This useful and no-less than entertaining information is organized by subject matter rather than by the celebrity so you can gain various expert advice on the topic you want to know about, and not about the personality you are learning from. All of this combined into one reasonably priced package makes for a truly definitive guide for any producers and engineers of audio productions who want the advice, opinions, tricks and techniques used by the leading experts in the field.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure for anybody involved in the art of recording music, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Mixing, Recording and Producing Techniques of the Pros (Paperback)
Rick Clark's book is a treasure for anybody involved in the art of recording music. this book is full of rare, first-hand information by some of today's top engineers and producers. I wished the foreword (and it's a long foreword) would have gone on and on. If you've lost your belief in rock'n roll, Rick's foreword will make you a believer again. Rick Clark's knowledge about every aspect of making muic is vast, his passion for music and its makers is obvious. I've been recording, playing and producing music for a long time and learned a lot from this book. I go back to it frequently for inspiration and resources.

5.0 out of 5 stars Render unto Caesar that wich is Caesar's, February 10, 2007

Francisco Elias Granda (Lugo de Llanera, Spain) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Mixing, Recording and Producing Techniques of the Pros (Paperback)
I must be fair. My first review of this book (now deleted)was written from the frustration. I had enjoyed so much The Expert Encyclopedia of Recording that, when I found this one, I didn't mind the absence of the Search Inside option. I just knew this had to be a great book. When I received my copy, I was dissapointed, not by the book being bad, which isn't, but for not have had enough information about it, as to know it actually was an updated edition of the one I already owned, with different title and cover art. The one-star rating should have been directed to the publisher (and the damage he was doing to the book), not to the content itself.
Having said that, I've read many books devoted to mixing and recording, and this one is among the best; enthusiastic and instructive as few others, well structured and covering almost everything you need to know. I repeat: if you don't own The Expert Encyclopedia, don't waste a minute and get this one. In my case, I'll use it as a gift to a good friend and I know he'll appreciate it.
Most important of all, the author has shown me he is a very nice person, passionate about his work and concerned about his readers. I'd say he's even better than his book. He deserved this review.
