Mixman StudioPro 4.0 consists of four modules in a virtual music-production studio. Pop into the recording studio to record live sounds (microphone not included), or sample existing sound bites, then move over to the editing room to refine the clips into a smooth, endless loop. A generous library of sound samples--drums, bass, synthesizer samples, guitar riffs, and more--is included in the package. With the sonic ingredients in hand, hop over to the remixing studio to cook up a tune. Load up to 16 tracks into the interface (resembling a dual turntable setup, each supporting eight tracks), with each track having a corresponding key. Then, punch tracks into the mix, cross-fade, shift tempo and pitch, and apply effects with simple keyboard commands or mouse clicks. The pre-existing samples are time-coded, synching perfectly with the other tracks in the mix. It's as simple as that. Only moments after firing up the program, layers of snazzy percussion, chest-thumping bass, and exotic sounds are unleashed on the ears of happy dancing people (or, at the very least, your confused dog).
Those without a live audience can kick out the jams to the world online, thanks to Mixman's brilliant Web community. Store your mixes on a customized Web page in the Mixzone where others can download and remix your mixes into unique interpretations. Mixman Radio is the place to broadcast your creations to open ears across the Web. The site's integration of MP3 technology for sound-file swapping opens an entire new realm of sampling and collaborating possibilities.
As with just about any sound-production software, you'll need a speedy computer--at least a 233 MHz system. Beyond this modest restriction, StudioPro's packed with all the tools you need to mold a musical soundscape of your own, then unleash it on the world. --Eric Twelker
The heart of Mixman StudioPro is its Remixing Studio, a unique, live-performance environment designed to give you maximum control of the musical moment. Instant response from the computer keys lets you remix with total inspiration. FX Studio provides a set of state-of-the-art effects to manipulate and create new sounds.
Graphically adjust audio elements to compose or rearrange your music with precision. A cell-based editing system includes cut, copy, paste, merge, ripple, and draw. Change parameters like pitch, tempo, panning, and volume dynamically over time.
This innovative software allows you to tune in and listen to mixes submitted by fans worldwide or to broadcast your own latest creation. All radio listeners can participate by writing reviews and rating the music. Also, get your own space on www.mixman.com, where you can post your own sound templates for others to remix, or highlight your tracks on Mixman Radio.

Uhhhhhh......no.,
By "gdatlanta" (Atlanta, Georgia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mixman Studio Pro 4.0 (CD-ROM)
I must admit, the little demo tunes that come with it are very trendy and have good sound quality. I have been writing music with computers since 1988 using a variety of different programs and methods and I must say that for a program which is designed to make it easy for the average chump, I'm confused by it's simplicity. The interface is artsy rather than designed for serious work and comes off like "Acid Junior Lite" if you could imagine that. Yeah, wow - it also burns your noise to mp3s, like most new programs do. You're unable to fold, spindle and mutilate (or "tweak") the sounds the way you would with most music programs, although some basic tweaking is possible. If you're really uninspired to learn music production properly, this would be a quick way to pump out Kmart dance music and call yourself "cool". If this is the way you want to go, I'd recommend you pay a visit to fruityloops.net, as it is a much more powerful program that accomplishes the end result more thoroughly (and does much more than this blunt little tool), but if you really want to do good high-quality music - sell your PC, get a Mac and then get Logic Audio. These little beat-box programs are only toys.

Software good but with one caveat,
By nusandman "nusandman" (Lincoln, Ne USA) - See all my reviews

I am by no means an expert on this type of software as this was my first venture into this. But, as a novice, I have enjoyed using this. It is fairly easy to create mixs in many different genres of music. I haven't mastered all the intricacies of the software yet but am having fun getting there. One word of warning however. I have Windows ME. If you are running this, you may have installation problems. I would go through the entire installation process and when it asked to launch Mixman after it was through, it would tell me I didn't have a valid serial number. After repeated attempts working with Mixman Technical Support, the solution was to say NO when it asks to launch it after installation. Then, when you went to the icon to launch it afterwards, it worked just fine. It was extremely frustrating to get to this point, however. Their technical support, however, was very helpful in offering different solutions to try.

Mixman Studio Pro 4.0-The computer music mixing dream,
By Jared B. (Bogangar, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mixman Studio Pro 4.0 (CD-ROM)
Mixman Studio Pro 4.0 is the best music mixing software I've used to date. I am a PC music mixing veteran and I'm very familiar with mixman. Mixman is easy to use, doesn't need a lot of grunt and gives unparalleled audio quality (speakers willing). Mixman offers hundreds of sounds, cuts, samples, loops, beats, FX's, rythms etc. If Mixman doesn't have the sound you want, You can record it yourself (you can also plug instruments in to your computer). When you've recorded your completed mix, you just click the save button. Or if you want to be heard you just click export and turn your mix in to any of the current popular audio formats and mail to friends or post it on the net. There is also a Radio Mixman where you and fellow mixers can be heard world-wide. The price is also reasonable for mixing software. If you want some no-fuss, no-hastle, reliable and easy to use mixing software you can't go past mixman Studio Pro 4.0.
