I must admit, the little demo tunes that come with it are very trendy and have good sound quality. I have been writing music with computers since 1988 using a variety of different programs and methods and I must say that for a program which is designed to make it easy for the average chump, I'm confused by it's simplicity. The interface is artsy rather than designed for serious work and comes off like "Acid Junior Lite" if you could imagine that. Yeah, wow - it also burns your noise to mp3s, like most new programs do. You're unable to fold, spindle and mutilate (or "tweak") the sounds the way you would with most music programs, although some basic tweaking is possible. If you're really uninspired to learn music production properly, this would be a quick way to pump out Kmart dance music and call yourself "cool". If this is the way you want to go, I'd recommend you pay a visit to fruityloops.net, as it is a much more powerful program that accomplishes the end result more thoroughly (and does much more than this blunt little tool), but if you really want to do good high-quality music - sell your PC, get a Mac and then get Logic Audio. These little beat-box programs are only toys.

I am by no means an expert on this type of software as this was my first venture into this. But, as a novice, I have enjoyed using this. It is fairly easy to create mixs in many different genres of music. I haven't mastered all the intricacies of the software yet but am having fun getting there. One word of warning however. I have Windows ME. If you are running this, you may have installation problems. I would go through the entire installation process and when it asked to launch Mixman after it was through, it would tell me I didn't have a valid serial number. After repeated attempts working with Mixman Technical Support, the solution was to say NO when it asks to launch it after installation. Then, when you went to the icon to launch it afterwards, it worked just fine. It was extremely frustrating to get to this point, however. Their technical support, however, was very helpful in offering different solutions to try.

Mixman Studio Pro 4.0 is the best music mixing software I've used to date. I am a PC music mixing veteran and I'm very familiar with mixman. Mixman is easy to use, doesn't need a lot of grunt and gives unparalleled audio quality (speakers willing). Mixman offers hundreds of sounds, cuts, samples, loops, beats, FX's, rythms etc. If Mixman doesn't have the sound you want, You can record it yourself (you can also plug instruments in to your computer). When you've recorded your completed mix, you just click the save button. Or if you want to be heard you just click export and turn your mix in to any of the current popular audio formats and mail to friends or post it on the net. There is also a Radio Mixman where you and fellow mixers can be heard world-wide. The price is also reasonable for mixing software. If you want some no-fuss, no-hastle, reliable and easy to use mixing software you can't go past mixman Studio Pro 4.0.

Like the other reviewer from DeSoto, Texas said below, I too am experiencing crashes on a very robust installation of Windows XP. I am a hardware/software technician with over 10 years of field experience and I have a degree in Recording Engineering, yet, I cannot get this product to run on my system. I also have their DM2 mixer and used previous versions of their software on Win98 with no problems. I am hesitant to try their newer StudioXPro product fearing that it too will crash upon launch.

They really do have extremely poor support. They did NOT respond to any of my SEVEN e-mails regarding this problem. The only way to contact them is via e-mail. I even considered knocking on their doors when I last visited San Francisco, but their website only shows a PO BOX!

Until they get their act together, avoid MixMan. It's too bad too because they have a promising product line. They just don't know how to run a software company.

I was thinking of buying Mixman Studio Pro. I downloaded their demo version. I have installed, removed, and reinstalled it 3 times, leaving me with a very poor impression of its reliability.

My operating system is Windows 2000. I installed it and got no errors. When I tried to run it, it said the EXE had generated errors, and it was quitting. I deinstalled it, made sure I was not running anything else, and reinstalled it. It appeared to install OK. The difference this time was that it said it wanted to reboot. After rebooting, I tried to run it. This time it told me it could not find one of its data files, then it gave me the "EXE has generated errors" message again. I deinstalled it again and installed it again. It did not say it wanted to reboot the third time. It did get the same old "EXE has generated errors" error again, though.

Very flakey software! Very poor first impression with MixMan. I emailed their support about the above-described problems. Over a week later, they still have not responded. I DEFINITELY will not be buying any of their products.

Like others that have posted here, I have enjoyed using earlier versions and other Mixman products on earlier operating systems, but found MixmanPro 4.0 to be completely unusable on my Windows XP operating system right out of the box.

Their website FAQ's covered this problem, but it required you to use their shopping cart to download an updated version that is XP compatable. When I bought the product (December 2006) the shopping cart feature was down and remained down for months.

With no other online or phone support available, most people would have given up and simply have eaten the $20. Instead, I searched the internet for any and every piece of information I could find on Mixman. I finally located an e-mail address for their web hosting company using Network Solutions Whois server [...] Whois keeps public records of contact information for all domains. I complained to the Mixman technical contact listed at Whois and he provided me with a link to download the XP fix.

Once I had the XP version installed it worked GREAT! Just like the previous experience that I had with Mixman products. Bottom line, great product, non-existent support. I guess they are not in it for the long haul or they would be addressing this problem.

I was very disappointed with this product. It work once and I tried it on different computers and nothing. It only cost $20.00 but I still feel I got ripped off. But what can I do?

I was impressed with the product years ago (2000). I have no professional music background but it seemed to be a good place to start. I thought it would a cool tool to use to create WEB site sound bites. Then it seems the company fell apart. Customer support became non-existent.
The products ran fine under Windows 98 but crashed under Windows XP. I expected an update patch to fix this problem, it never appeared. One of the biggest problems became apparent if you had to re-install the software. After you entered the product KEY the install program had to go to the WEB site to validate the key. When they dropped their product support they seemed to eliminate the KEY validation and the software failed to re-install. So like a lot of people I have $100.00 of worthless software/hardware.
It was a shame because this little product line had potential. It would be nice if they would make some patches so we could still use this software.
Bottom line, with out support, KEY issues when re-installing and NO replies too many e-mails buy another product.

I've really enjoyed using Mixman products in the past, especially in combination with the DM2 hardware controller. I've also used it from time to time to sequence tracks, although it can't come close to products like Live and Reason which I also use. The problem is, the company appears to be belly-up, or circling the drain, or whatever, so this unique product is likely to become an orphan soon, an orphan with a cult following but no support to speak of. Combined with DM2, Studio Pro can be an inspiring and productive tool and/or toy, but unless someone buys this product line from the Mixman and breathes some life into it, it's really not an option for serious emusic people.

This is the coolest piece of software. You can do so much with it and it will keep you entertained for hours. Its cool that you can export to MP3. The sound you get is amazing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Its like being a DJ plus you get to create your own sounds and import .wav files. Oh YEAH !
