5.0 out of 5 stars THIS is from the same people who did Cardcaptor Sakura?
The reason I ask is because, while Cardcaptor Sakura (even the origonal, uncut Japanese version) seemed to be more innocent, this seems to be boderline hentai. A semi-erotic spoof of Lewis Carrol's ALICE stories, this also shares a very slight theme with the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movies. 3.0 out of 5 stars This is not your ordinary CLAMP manga
This is definitely not what you would expect from CLAMP. Miyuki's trip through the various worlds is nothing short of erotic. She never meets any guys, just females intent on exploring her and each other. So yes, there is a somewhat lesbian tone to all of this.

As always, the art is totally awesome, but unless you are a fan of semi-erotic stuff, I advise you to not get...

(Teenager is plauged with unwanted dreams everytime she goes to sleep.) Anyway, the story: Myuki is a sweet, innocent highschool girl who lately has been having troublesome dreams whenever she goes to sleep where she is molested by various people (ALL of whom are female, by the way). There are seven chapters, each of which are pretty short and feature it's own dream. There's Myuki-Chan In Wonderland & Through The Looking Glass, the two stories that are direct parodies of the Lewis Carrol books and which made it into the anime, then there are five more tales that spoof other things (the movie BARBARELLA, waitressing jobs, the Japanese game Mah-jong, video games and Clamp's own manga/anime X) and which never made it into the anime, so even if you've already seen the Myuki-Chan video tape or DVD, there's some new stuff here for you. Though short, it's fun to read while it lasts. Check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, June 29, 2004

This review is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Paperback)
Alright, it's not exactly the most innocent manga, and most certainly not the most dark manga. It's still pretty good, you can get it for a good price, and it's really funny. The art is beautiful, miyuki-chan has lots of cute clothes in the manga, and all the characters are hilarious. It has alot of colored pages, which are amazazingly beautiful. Then, at the end there is a special chapter Clamp wrote for the american version, and then after that glossy, colored pages with author notes and such with picture. For any clamp fan, or someone who just wants a really good one volume manga for there collection, i really think you should get it!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's CLAMP Padoring Themselves, December 22, 2003
By
This review is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Paperback)
Miyuki-chan in Wonderland was first ingraved into our brains via the OVA that ADV put out. Simply a target to male audiences (and to show how Madhouse (the animation company who made the OVA) and CLAMP work well together), it will offend some and it will be loved by some.

Now we get the orginal manga version. It included other stories that the OVA didn't mention, but the permis is still the same: Miyuki is a school girl who goes to various "lands" where she is ambushed by all-female casts who hit on her. From reading this, it's nothing more than CLAMP making references to other movies, books, ect and even themselves! Here's the lowdown:

Miyuki-chan in Wonderland/Look Glass Land--these two are obvious, so no need to go into explenation.

Miyuki-chan in TV Land--a simple padory of the old Barbarella movie.

Miyuki-chan in Part-Time Job Land--this makes fun of part-time workers and waitresses (anyone for a trip to Anne Miller?)

Miyuki-chan in Mah-Jongg Land--It takes the term "Strip Poker" to a whole new level!

Miyku-chan in Video Game Land--A padory of the entire Fantasy RPG genra, but also made me think of Record of the Lodoss War and even CLAMP poking fun of the Magic Knight Rayearth game for the Sega Saturn.

Miyuki-chan in X Land--CLAMP making fun of CLAMP! Take a guess at which manga they choose.

So, in conclusion, CLAMP proves that they are talented and can briidge from one genra to the next. While this the farthest they have gone, Chobits does play up on the peverted factor (but not as bad as Miyuki-chan). This is strictly for CLAMP fanatics only!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good...considering there's no plot., January 12, 2006
By

This review is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Paperback)
Clamp is renowned in the manga world for their abilities to create complex and engaging plotlines and characters...but this is not your typical "Clamp". This is the story of Miyuki, a cute teenage girl clad in her sexy school uniform who, whenever she falls asleep, travels in her dreams to bizarre fantasy worlds populated entirely by gorgeous women in skimpy outfits. The worlds she visits parody different things, like Alice in Wonderland, the movie Barbarella, Miyuki's part-time waitressing job, Mah-Jong, RPG video games, and the anime/manga X (also by Clamp).

But...that's really all there is. There's no plot, no character development, no ending...probably because there's not really a beginning either. The story jumps right into the action on page 2, and from there it's just an endless procession of various sexual situations that Miyuki finds herself in. The manga is quite short (less than 100 pages!), but it's filled to the brim with lesbian fan service as Miyuki is stripped and/or molested by almost every babe she meets, pretending she doesn't enjoy it. ;-)

Some Clamp fans complain about Clamp deviating from their usually well thought out storylines and creating an "unintelligent" manga, but what they don't understand is that Miyuki-chan was never intended to be anything more. In a special "Omake Comic" included in the English translation, the Clamp team admits that this manga was mainly a chance to showcase sexy female character designs. Well, in that area, they certainly succeeded!

So, if you take Miyuki-chan for what it is and don't expect anything deeper, I think you'll be pleased with this manga. The main reasons I gave it three stars are because of the length, and also because I think even an "art showcase" manga could have had a little more depth. But it's all a matter of tastes...

5.0 out of 5 stars Something different from Clamp, July 5, 2006

Other reviewers have already described what it's about, so I won't go over that. Suffice to say, this manga is more like a fun, sexy diversion from their usual, more in-depth stories. It more or less caters to male interests, but it also has a very distinct female style to it. Basically, Clamp showing off what they can do. And I like it a lot ;-).

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good..., June 15, 2005
This review is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Paperback)
I'm not a huge CLAMP fan, but I do like Chobits. I can't say I've read any other titles.. ***^___________________^*** I got Miyuki-chan in my quest for additional Clamp stuff that might seem interesting. I flipped through and saw lots of hot manga chicks so I got it. haha. Clamp's art style in this is much like the art style of X. Miyuki travels through several mini-worlds, all of which are inhabited by pretty women who want to fondle-slash-glomp-slash-fight her. I like the idea, I love the showcase of Clamp's art. I like the little explanation of why and how Miyuki came to be (soooooo hentai?!) .it's not really though. I'm bi and am unimpressed with the variety of shoujo-ai in manga. Shoujo-ai is mainly used as fan service for drooly guys in shounen (not that I mind THAT much). I mainly give Miyuki-chan 4 stars because I find Miyuki to be a bit of a prude and rather annoying. There is no girlxgirl action. Not even a kiss! I LURVE shounen-ai as well and if I was reading a shounen-ai manga (i.e. Fake or Gravitation) I would expect some kind of lovey-dovey-ness! Alas... If only Clamp could expand the Miyuki series and make the stories longer and in depth maybe they could jam in a kiss. This manga didn't leave me completely satisfied.

This is a wonderful manga. This is CLAMP's version of Alice in Wonderland. It is VERY short with only 100 pages. It has 5 stories, they are: Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland, Miyuki-Chan Through the Looking Glass, Miykui-Chan in Part-Time Jobland, Miyuki-Chan in Mah-Jahngland, Miyuki-Chan in Video Game land, and Miyuki-Chan in "X" land. This is very funny and I would reccomend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars YAY FOR PANTY SHOTS! lol, July 26, 2006
By
This review is from: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (Paperback)
If you like *fan service* or panty shots, this is the book for you. Excellent quality art has usual from CLAMP, ok, so there is no storyline but who needs one when its so funny? It's mainly a sampler of different sketches that all end in Miyuki-chan having her clothes somehow fall off. I thought it was a gem to add to my manga/CLAMP collection. Great gift or buy for all you CLAMP fans as it also pokes fun at different series CLAMP has done. :)

Ok...

Pros:

Its clamp.
Beautiful art.
Its clamp.

Cons:

What??? What just happened?
No plot.
No character development.
What??

While I enjoyed the gorgreous drawings... the manga should be renamed miyukichan in rapeland. Took me less than 40 minutes to read the whole thing. Aside from the fact that's its clamp and I'm a collctor.. there's really no reason for purchasing this manga. Its.. pointless. Literally. No point.
