MIZANI Butter Blend RHELAXER IMPORTANT:BEFORE RELAXING : DO NOT SHAMPOO. Check condition of hair and scalp. Avoid vigorous brushing, combing or tugging. Wearing protective gloves, conduct strand test using "Relaxer Application" directions. Proceed only if hair and scalp are in good condition. MIXING : Pour one conditioner of MIZANI BUTTER BLEND SENSITIVE SCALP ACTIVATOR (item B) into jar containing MIZANI BUTTER BLEND SENSITIVE SCALP Relaxer Base (item A). Using mixing spatula stir together until product is uniform and free of lumps. Let mixture sit for 5 minutes. TIMING CHART - APPLICATION AND PROCESSING HAIR TYPE MAXIUM TIME COLORED-TREATED OR POROUS 10-15 MINUTES FINE 18-18 MINUTES NORMAL TO COARSE 18-20 MINUTES CONDITIONING & NEUTRALIZING DIRECTIONS : Apply and distribute MIZANI perpHecting Creme Normalizing Conditioner to hair and cover with plastic cap. DO NOT USE HEAT! Leave in for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Apply 1 to 11/2 oz. MIZANI Butter Blend Sensitive Scalp Balance Hair Bath to hair. Lather and rinse thoroughly with warm water. I did not think I could purchase a name brand product like Mizani. Most products I buy in the stores dry my hair out and does not last very long. Mizani made my hair really soft after I relaxed it. The best thing I liked was it does not burn like most products I've used. I will be using it again and you can not beat the price. It's well worth it.

For the past month, I've been doing research for hours on end trying to find a better relaxer for women of color. One that is good for color treated hair, conditions, strengthens, helps breakage, and DOESN'T BURN.

Previously, I've used lye relaxers such as Motions & Clairol Texture Tones. Both of them burned like hell. So I switched to no-lye ORS Olive Oil for a year then Optimum Anti-Breakage for a year. The Olive Oil was ok but after the first couple weeks, my hair would be dry/hard. The Optimum burned my edges and I didn't see any progress in strengthen or stopping my breakage.

My choices were between Mizani Butter Blend Sensitive Scalp and Affirm Fiberguard. I chose Mizani because it was the only one I could find in my local beauty supply store. I was a little skeptical with ordering it online plus the shipping costs are outrageous. The relaxer already costs a little more than the ones in the box. However, I am TOTALLY HAPPY with the Mizani. I love the way it makes my hair feel soft & light. It got my hair straighter than expected based on other reviews I've read. And most importantly IT DIDN'T BURN. This relaxer doesn't come with the little neutralizing shampoos & conditioners like the box perms. But it's not a big deal. Plus I don't think it's necessary to use the Mizani Pre-Treatment/Shampoos/Conditioners. They're a little too pricey to me. I used ORS Olive Oil neutralizing shampoo with another brand conditioner & it worked out perfect. Mizani will be my new relaxer from now on...

THIS PRODUCT LIVES UP TO ITS NAME. MY SCALP IS VERY SENSITIVE. THIS IS THE FIRST PRODUCT THAT DID NOT BURN MY SCALP. IT RELAXED MY HAIR LEAVING IT SOFT AND SILKY. I'M TOUCHING UP ABOUT EVERY 9-10 WEEKS AND THAT'S IN THE SUMMER WHEN I SWEAT HEAVILY. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT, WILL ORDER IT AGAIN AND WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT TO OTHER WOMEN OF COLOR.
