The shoe that I ran in before the Nirvana 8 was the Nirvana 7, and as good as the 7 was, the 8 is that much better. I LOVE this shoe.
Now after saying all this, just because Mizuno's work great for me does NOT mean that it will work great for you, but................I do think that it's worth it to check them out.
May the wind be at your backs............
Finally I tried the Nirvana 3s. I didn't have high hopes for them as they didn't feel all that comfortable to me. However they are the shoes that finally got me to and through my first marathon. The Nirvana has good arch support and a stable ride. They run a bit small and narrow compared to most.
After a couple years I tried stepping down to the Inspires for something a bit lighter (and cheaper which is nice too). For short distances they were fine but when I trained for a half marathon I started having issues again. So, back to the Nirvanas I went.
My pair of 8s seem to be the most comfortable of any of the Nirvanas I have had and feel light for a stability shoe. They continue to work great for me. Of course like others mention that doesn't mean they will work for you. Don't order these online without knowing what type of shoe you need first. Let your local experts help you out, and don't be afraid to pay a bit more for your shoes to support that service.
On to the company. DO NOT ORDER from Backcountry. They offer these shoes at sub $90.xx dollars, but they claim it is the wrong sku number. The sku # is associated with the Inspire 8s, not the Nirvana 8s. I sent the shoes back for an exchange, and they will not honor the price listed on Amazon. They attempted to charge the higher cost of $118.xx even though it is their mistake here. That's fine, but as of writing this review, nothing has been done to update this site, so if you place an order at the lower price expecting the Nirvana series, you will find you are shipped the Inspire series from last year, and no price match will be offered.
I am a severe overpronator, my first Mizunos were wave Alchemys. I loved them. I weigh 250 and wanted more cushioning so I tried these nirvanas and added a stability insole. In short I love these shoes.
I jog 10-12 miles a week.
I highly recommend you be fitted for the correct shoe for you if you have not already, I ran in pain for a lot of years because I bought shoes for their "looks" rather than what was right for my stride.
The soft material between the top laces and toe tore apart on both shoes.
That is unacceptable, unless you make 6-figure salary and can drop $150 every 2 1/2 months.
And yes, I had my feet measured for correct size at a sports shop that recommended these.
These are the cheapest, shortest lasting and most expensive shoes I've bought in 20 years of running.

good for running, but worn out after 6 months. Not as solid as expected.Published 14 months ago by Magnus Valkner
I just love the older Nirvana styles! Comfortable, lots of shock absorption. I couldn't find any women's in my size so I ordered a men's 8 and I wear a women's 9.5. Read morePublished on November 15, 2013 by p nagle

Only drawback is the heel cushioning is a bit stiff and heavy. Overall, though, quite satisfied. Would buy these again.Published on August 14, 2013 by Sheepdog

I wish I had gotten these in one size larger, but they are fantastic nonetheless. I used to run in the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 11 but they got worn out so I needed a replacement. Read morePublished on February 26, 2013 by Steve
