5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite
I have been a long time Saucony pro-grid Ride user. Over the past 2 years I have been struggling with IT band syndrome, problems around my knee. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not for narrow feet!
I'm a long-time Brook Adrenaline user and thought I would switch to the Wave Rider for its cushioning. But the Wide Rider is not for someone with narrow feet like myself. Also be forewarded that the Wave Rider runs a 1/2 size long. In sum, I didn't like the fit of the Wave Rider at all. I'm back in my Adrenalines and happy as a clam!

I have been a long time Saucony pro-grid Ride user. Over the past 2 years I have been struggling with IT band syndrome, problems around my knee. I tried everything I could, from a foam roller (which really helped) to physical therapy (didn't help so much). Over time I found that, for me, it was an impact issue, the repeated stress caused by hitting the sidewalk over and over was a major contributer to my problem. I took the hard inserts out of my shoes and it got a little better.

That led me to these shoes. A friend who had been running for many years suggested a go with a more cushioned shoe like Mizuno. The impact was imediate. The very first run was a long run and I didn't even feel my IT getting irritated. I have had no flare ups since using this shoe. Basically...I'm back! These shoes are cushiony soft and very light. They do run a size large, usually I am an 11 1/2, I am wearing a 12 in these. I will continue to buy these shoes, as long as I run.

By the way, I still use the Saucony shoes. Taking the inserts out has helped them out dramatically, but these have a better feel.

Mizuno: Don't change a thing!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wave of Comfort, October 1, 2009
By
Great ride, if a bit too comfy and cushy (lack of road feel). Suitable for a wider than average foot and has a pretty roomy toebox. Flexible and light for a shoe in this category. Very, very comfy, but not a speedster, as you sink in with each step.

5.0 out of 5 stars MIZUNO WAVE RIDER 12...SWEET!!, March 24, 2009
Have worn the Rider for years..If you have a high arch are neutral or slight pronator..these will work..Mizuno is known for great heel to toe transition with all their shoes plus their arch support is a tad more pronounced than other brands..I am a 190 pound midfoot striker and these accomodate my stride nicely....I would rather buy this shoe and perhaps buy a bit more often than spend another [...] bucks more on a neutral plus shoe for heavier folks and actually get less comfort...worth checking out..good luck

4.0 out of 5 stars Great shoe..quite a bit different feel from the Wave Rider 10 though, April 17, 2010

This shoe is light, comfortable, and supportive for those who need good cushioning while running because of joint problems. The only thing I would suggest to keep in mind is that if you are used to older versions of the wave rider series, specifically the wave rider 10, this shoe has less forefoot support than the wave rider 10. For the first couple of runs my forefoot grew very tired very quickly because my running style shifts from prominent heal strike to sometimes heavier forefoot running. However, if you can get used to (or if you are already used to) running with a prominent heal strike in every stride, I think that you will love this shoe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very solid shoe., April 30, 2009
By
I've been running in these for about 2 weeks, and they feel GREAT. The arch support is much better than I've had in other shoes, and for a well-cushioned shoe, they are not too heavy. The solid midsole support has also helped me get past my Medial Shin Splints.

I will say, however, that because of the unique way that Mizuno does their cushioning, they are not for all runners: Anyone who is serious about running should make sure they get a proper fitting at a running shoe store like Fleet Feet.

I have high arches and these are bar none the most comfortable, lightweight shoes I have ever owned. Some might find it too soft but I love them. When I put them on, it feels like pulling on my favorite pair of socks. I use a different, thicker cushioned pair for long runs but these are perfect for short runs and races.

5.0 out of 5 stars My perfect shoe for a great price on Amazon, August 22, 2011

This is the first review I have ever written for any purchase from Amazon. I recently purchased this Mizuno Men's shoe. My previous shoe was the same as I ordered this time from Amazon. 12.5 size 2E. I found this shoe to be perfect for my size and weight. I am about 212 lbs. A flat footed even wear runner. In the past, I used to order a size 13 to prevent black toe on my right foot, but those shoes still seemed a bit narrow. I like long distance jogging and my foot seemed to need more room after several miles.

I was very happy the new shoe had not changed from the previous year as many shoes do. I was also happy with the price, and quick shipping (regular). I wore this shoe for the first time and did ten miles. I thought I was taking a chance with a half marathon in a couple weeks, but my old shoes were just worn out. The shoe fit like a slipper. I had no marks, blisters or discomfort on any part of either feet, knees or legs. I was so impressed and happy, I decided to write my first review on Amazon. Hope this helps some older, slightly overweight flat-footed runner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Light-Duty Trainer, August 20, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
People wearing size 14 shoes are used to taking what they can get in function, comfort and styling. But this lightweight shoe gives good support and an excellent fit for me, and serves me well on short (3 mile) jogs. Snug without binding, and just the right amount of toe-wiggle room in the box.
