5.0 out of 5 stars Great trail shoe
I run in these primarily off road. The new ascend 4's are lighter and more respOnsive than the 3's. I am glad that they kept the hourglass designed shoelaces, they never give me trouble with coming undone. I do not wear these as an everyday shoe. i use them training and running trail ultras. these shoes are very comfortable and keep cool after hours of running. The...

1.0 out of 5 stars not so good experience
I thought this shoe would be a good trade out from my TEVA brand trail runners. I was wrong. This is not a practical shoe for more serious trails. I am sure they are a good fit for well groomed pathways, but I caution their use over difficult terrain. There is simply too much give with these shoes. I found it very easy to roll an ankle over rocks and roots with the Ascend...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great trail shoe, April 28, 2009
I run in these primarily off road. The new ascend 4's are lighter and more respOnsive than the 3's. I am glad that they kept the hourglass designed shoelaces, they never give me trouble with coming undone. I do not wear these as an everyday shoe. i use them training and running trail ultras. these shoes are very comfortable and keep cool after hours of running. The support is still great, and they seem to have a lower cut around the ankle which has more a road racing shoe feel. I like that. I have a long history with the wave ascend 3's and it seems the minor tweekings of the 4's have made for a greater running shoes with a better fit. Toebox is still roomy as usual, deeper lugs on the bottom seem to give better handling on technical trails. The rubber cap protecting the toe has been beefed up as well. looking forward to logging some high miles in these bad boys.

This would be at least my 12 pair of Mizuno Shoes and I find that I will continue to purchase these as long as they make them. I have tried other brands and found them to be "too narrow, too tight, too loose or plain ole just don't fit right." I purchased my first pair of Mizuno back in 2004 and have recently become hooked on the Wave Ascend 4. I have logged many road miles and races with these shoes and the amazing thing is their price point. I would highly recommend these to entry level runners and joggers.

1.0 out of 5 stars all that was good is gone, May 4, 2009
The first three wave ascends were the best trail shoe on the market in my opinion, but with version 4 all of the cushion of this great shoe is gone. Hopefully Mizuno will go back to what made this shoe great with version 5.
