I am a new runner and suffer from more than moderate overpronation. As a result I have had ongoing IT band pain in my left leg. Two weeks before my first half marathon, I was having shin splints and on a whim decided to go check out shoes at our local running store. I have never been fitted for a running shoe at a store before - I usually see how they feel and buy them myself. However, I decided it was time to leave it to the pros and one of the runners working there helped me discover these shoes. He said for my degree of overpronation, I should really have a motion control shoe, which is a step above stability. All of the shoes I tried (Brooks Ariel, etc.) were too bulky and heavy for my taste, so he suggested I try on the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 11. He said it's more of a hybrid stabily/motion control shoe, and is a much lighter option. I put these shoes on and they felt heavenly on my feet right away.

With a LOT of foam rolling of my IT band and breaking in of these shoes throughout the day and not just running, I ran my half marathon yesterday without any problems. These shoes have EXCELLENT support (I also use a Spenco RX full length orthotic which fits well in them). This being the longest I've ever run, I finished feeling great! I did have a few blisters, but never felt them so didn't notice them until I took my shoes off. They were only on my toes and compared to what I've experienced in the past on my long runs, they were nothing!

I highly recommend these shoes. Going into that running store and choosing these is what got me through my race in one piece!

Usually I prefer to get fitted for new running shoes at a running store but I tried the Mizuno website and after their 'test' online it was recommended I try these. I'm very happy with them so far. I received my usual blister under the big toe for the first 20km but it seems to have broken in now. My only fault with Mizuno is that rocks get stuck in the tread at the heel.

I don't know anyone who has feet as narrow as mine. These actually fit and support my flat flimsy feet from all sides! I got orthotic inserts for them because I always do, but they actually hurt my feet, so I took them out and put the insole that comes with the shoe back in. Lo and behold, I can wear them as is with no pain! (and no pronation!) I did have to order a half size up for the length in the toes. the bands on the sides of the toe box may bug you if your feet aren't abnormally narrow, but I saw a video of a podiatrist who just cut the bands off with an exacto knife. These shoes grip my heels, which tend to slip out of other lesser shoes and they have extra lace holes so you can really cinch 'em up. Also, the soles have good traction, but don't tear up my carpet like trail shoes. I use these for step aerobics and kick boxing, too. The aerobics instructors say to use slippery cross-trainers for pivoting and lateral support when moving side to side, but all the cross trainers I tried on (well over 20 pairs all high end brands) were junk with no support or structure of any kind- like just wearing socks. So glad I tried these. Please don't ever stop making narrow widths!

I was wearing Saucony when I saw a RW suggestion that I give these a try. They are okay but the 10.5 womens is a bit larger than the 10.5 saucony. They are stiff and supportive just not very cushiony. I read another reviewer say that the Saucony break down very quickly and I also found that to be true.

I use these to do the Power 90 workouts, not run. And, I wear them for everyday. They are comfortable.

I bought these based off of reviews on Zappos and Dick's Sporting Goods and they are wonderful. I overpronate (run on the inside of my foot) and have problems with my heel (haglund's deformity). These shoes have caused me no problems and are totally comfortable. They are my first pair of Mizunos and I would definitely buy this brand again.

My podiatrist gave me a selection of shoes to try out with my orthotics several years back and I found together we both liked me still in "control" or "stability" shoes. Stability shoes are usually recommended for runners with severe pronation (rolling inwards). My pronation isn't really that severe and I wear custom sports orthotics to correct it but I still find I have to be careful of my shoe purchases or my orthotics can't do it all.

I find these shoes are a little short in the toe box, and they're a little hot and heavy after a long run making me and my feet feel a little claustrophobic (especially compared to the minimalist shoes on the market these days) but they give me absolutely not shin or knee aches or pains so I don't complain. I'm about to move onto my 3rd pair.

As an added bonus the sole durability is fantastic. Just fantastic. I get over a year wear out of these and it's usually the cushioning that breaks down, not the sole. The shoes I had before that were Saucony and prior to that Asics and the soles were gone within 6 months. That's from a couple 5-10k runs a week on pavement.

Only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is the weight and absolute lack of style. Sorry Mizuno!
