5.0 out of 5 stars favorite running shoes
I had a previous generation of this model and really enjoyed running with them. This new pair is even better than the last. I tried another nike air pair with lots of cushioning, but can't beat the structure in the sole of this shoe. 3.0 out of 5 stars good for high arches
These shoes are not very soft and cushy, but are very supportive during my runs, and are good for my high arches.

Unfortunately, I'm not too savvy on the technical speak related to running shoes, but all I can say is that these shoes have made it as comfortable as possible to run long distances. Seems to minimize impact on knees as well. And they look good too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for those with high arches, IT band pain, June 26, 2008

This shoe came highly recommended...and boy was it worth it! Although I was a long-time Nike wearer, these shoes have a better toebox for my foot, they are extremely comfortable, and--most important--my chronic knee and hip pain is now under control. I can't say enough positive about these great shoes.

1.0 out of 5 stars if you have narrow feet look elsewhere, May 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I liked the wave creation 8 because I have narrow feet and higher arches. The Wave Creation 9 has an open slit seam by the outside ankle area instead of a stiched seam. Inside the shoe is a weird elastic band to hold it together. The end result is the shoe is much less structured and more open and looser than WC8 version. If you have narrow feet to begin with, this makes the shoe wider. I was very disappointed this new design feature was not mentioned in the shoe description.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoe, April 19, 2009
This is a great shoe for a neutral striker. I tend to twist my foot from landing to push off. The outside heel is build up which is where I get a lot of wear and tear. So I'm kind of an overpronator when I hit the ground and under pronator when I push off, this a neutral striker.

For perspective, I'm 120lbs and usually run about 40 miles/per week depending on which half or full marathon I'm training for. it's a sturdy shoe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes for high arches., January 29, 2009
As a new runner, I wanted to make sure I got professional help in choosing my shoes. I'm very glad that I did. I tend to be a frugal shopper, but I deliberately asked the manager of the shoe store (who ended up helping me that day) not to tell me any prices until I had chosen the shoes I liked best.

However, I have pretty strange feet. I have very high arches and a bunion on my left foot. I tried on and ran in at least two dozen pair, and every one of them would press against the top of my foot and cause a lot of pain, even with windows in the laces. Finally, after an entire afternoon at the shoe store and very tired legs, the manager got desperate and gave me a pair of Mizuno Wave Creation 9's, which she herself was wearing. She told me that she wore them to support her Achilles, and that they might help my foot slope downward. It was a long-shot, but it ended up working beautifully. The downward slope helped accommodate the more "curvy" shape of my feet. I still have to tie them in the top two sets of holes only, but none of the other shoes I tried on were good for more than a quarter mile.

I've worn the Mizunos out and am preparing to buy my second pair. As I said, I'm a new runner, so I can't comment a lot as to how they compare to other shoes in terms of stiffness, but I would agree that they are somewhat stiff, in that they don't have that "new shoe squishiness". But I've never had any problems with fatigue, nor have I had any pain. In fact, I wear my Mizunos all the time because my feet feel so much better at the end of the day than when I wear any other shoes. I love the toe box; it supports my foot nicely without rubbing against any of my toes. I'm seriously considering buying ten pairs of these shoes as back up in case they ever go out of production.

About Me: I run about 30-35 miles per week on a treadmill only, at up to 6 miles per stretch.

3.0 out of 5 stars Agree - very stiff for running, but makes for good trainers, October 18, 2008

I bought these to back up a pair of well-cushioned (but well-worn) Asics Gel Kinetics. Running in these Mizunos is like running in track spikes - that nifty wave design gives me virtually no heel cushioning. On the plus side, the toe box is not as unnecessarily "tall" as those on the Asics. The Asics are like running on pillows by comparison. All is not lost, though. I found that these Mizunos have a far better grip on surfaces (e.g., keeping my feet from sliding when doing planks or stability exercises), so they're now my gym trainers. Maybe I'm not heavy enough to compress the heels. I'm 130 lbs, and the shoes might be designed for a heavier runner. Too bad, I was hoping to have another pair of running shoes. I was swayed by a stellar review from a friend, but she may never have tried running in Asics!

1.0 out of 5 stars stiff run, May 29, 2008
I am avid runner and decided to try this shoe after a friend recommended it. On my first run, the shoes felt very stiff like I was running on cement. Even after a few weeks of running, they never broke in. There is no give in the heels which made my legs tire quickly. I run about 5 days a week, 8 miles a day. I finally threw these shoes away and went back to my Asics!!! Usually new running shoes feel like you are running on clouds....these DID NOT feel like that at all. I do not recommend these shoes.
