Book Description

My kitchen is full of cookery books. There are region specific ones, celebrity television chef ones, food specific ones, curry is a particular favourite, and even one that explains how to catch, kill, hang and cook a possum! Added to this are a number of recipe cards that have fallen out of magazines, extracts from newspapers and periodicals, and hand written recipes passed down through the generations. Many of the books have pages stuck together, particularly the messy Nigella ones, whilst many of the magazine pages are torn and faded.

Now, whilst the feel of a 300 page cookery book might initially fill me with excitement at the prospect of new ideas and new ingredients, it is not too long before I realise that, for everyday cooking, I am only ever going to use one or two, and even the one or two are generally adapted to the tastes of my own family as well as the convenience of the ingredients. So, I decided that I would put all of my favourite recipes in one place, on the Kindle, an item that is likely to be treated with a lot more care than a newspaper cutting. I know that there are no pictures to go with the dishes, but I already know what the finished meal should look like. Another advantage of Mmm.No1...Cookbook on Kindle is that it provides a handy method of taking a list of ingredients to the shops!

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

Michael Madden has worked for many years in the IT industry, as a result of which he has been quoted in publications as prestigious as the New York Times, however, until recently writing has been very much a part time occupation. He published the children’s picture book “Ole And Zac And The Port Of Tumbattle” (FASTPRINT PUBLISHING, 2010), and he followed this up with the adult humorous fiction novel Stags! (FASTPRINT PUBLISHING, 2011). Stags! is also available on Kindle. He has had several articles published in newspapers and magazines, on subject matter ranging from the growth in Print On Demand publishing, to articles on Olympic hopefuls, and even a preview and review of a performance by rockabilly legend Sleepy Labeef, that included an interview with the singer himself. He has also performed as an after dinner speaker on a number of occasions, as a result of another of his passions, playing amateur cricket. Mmm…No1…Cookbook is his first venture into non-fiction, and was conceived simply to bring a bit more order to his sometimes chaotic kitchen by putting all of his every day recipes in one place, on his Kindle. Originally from Sale in Cheshire, Michael now lives with his wife Sally in the more peaceful surroundings of Whaley Bridge, in the Peak District. Everyone adapts or creates...this begs to recreate an original which is neither respectful nor sincere. Hopefully this author will experiment further to create verifiable originals

Very good recipes. I found very interesting to use turmeric in your paella recipe as a substitute for saffron. Always learning something!
