5.0 out of 5 stars I am now Suave
This album is simply amazing!! I was given this CD as a gift when I was 14 and it still resonates the same message nearly 10 years later. Gerardo's anti-capitalist view is shown through his remake of "We Want the Funk". Only Gerardo would be able to get away with such lyrics. "When the Lights Go Out" is definately about the recession the nation was in...

No real rhyming skills at all. The reason why he was so popular is because he was different than what was already out there. He was rico suave for one hot minute and then he become pobre estupido the next. No one even remembers who he is. Someone told me Gerardo paved the way for Pitt Bull, but I don't know about that.

"When the Lights Go Out" is definately about the recession the nation was in. Gerardo knew how to connect his music to the people through real life experiences. I mean, one just needs to see the video of Rico Suave to realize that this man is not a simple pop star, he is a hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yo quiero este disco quanto antes...:), October 3, 2000

I happened to listen "Rico suave" when I was in Florida and I started loving his songs. I am now in Japan and it is almost impossible to buy this CD anymore...it's too late. If someone has this CD and is tired of it, please sell it to me. I want it with all my heart!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the ways of rico suave, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Mo' Ritmo (Audio CD)
i dont think people understand the genious of gerardo let alone rico suave. i've been up for 15 days straight listening to this song. And i now understand it on a whole new level. Hes not talking about just rico suave but the world and its problems and microscopic germs and how deep down in side we are all just a rico suave i mean think about it rico suave spelled backwards is evaus ocir. hes left us clues to the puzzle and the answer is in rico suave. i no longer believe he is even just a man. i think he was sent here to teach us. i am a true believer. a discliple of rico suave. he will show us the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gerardo and the falling price of Yen, June 8, 2005
This review is from: Mo' Ritmo (Audio CD)
On my many adventures along the Nile River I have met some interesting characters. Among the most interesting was a spice trader who looked like a young Eli Ackerman. I was at first interested in his paprika but soon my eyes locked with the stare of Gerardo from his album cover. After what seemed like an eternity of staring at this gem I returned to Earth only to find that I had to make a choice between the paprika and this one of a kind national treasure. I must say that while the melodies are smooth and the bass line really thumps your britches, the most alluring part of this album is how it tastes in an authentic Sri Lankan feast.

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous!, February 27, 2006

I actually had this TAPE (yeah, the tape) back when Gerardo first released this album. I could actually listen to the whole thing to its entirety! It's such a hard album to find, but if you have the opportunity, snap it up!!! It's completely worth it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesus is alive, June 8, 2005
By
This review is from: Mo' Ritmo (Audio CD)
We have been waiting hundreds of years but Jesus finally walks again. This tiem reincarnated into one of the sexiest males on the earth. I saw him win a hot dog eating contest 5 years ago and heard that when he was starving in his house he brutally beat one of the maids just to get attention. He is truly class at its finest and now that his masterpiece "Mo'Ritmo" is complete he can finally go back to Denver, Colorado where he resides with a wife an 3 kids.

1.0 out of 5 stars What horrid music..., November 9, 2002

I could vaguely understand the hype over this man ten years ago when this CD came out. I'm sure he isn't proud of it himself today. If I could give this CD no stars at all, I would have done it.

This album is horrible. Rico Suave isn't even a good song, but it is funny to listen to sometimes when you are bored. One song is a remake of "We want the funk" and it's not even a good remake because it doesn't have the same feel as the original.
