5.0 out of 5 stars Dope Cd From The Original Cleveland Thugs-MO' THUG NATION 4 EVA!, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Mo Thugs Family Scriptures (Audio CD)
This cd is a solid colaberation of bone thugs ~N~ Harmony and their apprentices "Mo'Thugs". they put a rapid fire flow with slow off the hook beats. the best song on the album is "thug devotion" it shows the lyrical talent of not only krayzie and layzie, but also Ken Dawg and all of the mo'thug family. I highly recomend this album to any bone fan. MO'THUGS 4 EVA!

If there was anything that Eazy E did that I could give him credit for, it would be for discovering the Bone thugs crew. Both Mo Thugs and thier Bone brothers are a lot easier on the ear than much of the post gangster-era rap, successfully combining rap with sweet vocal harmony. "Thug Devotion," which is based on EW&F, is alone worth the price of admission and is perhaps the most beautiful rap song ever recorded. If the Mo Thugs ever combine this song with their next CD's "Ghetto Cowboy" on a single CD, then that would really be a worthwhiole purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars What can I say? Family Scriptures is unbelievably smooth, December 11, 1999
This review is from: Mo Thugs Family Scriptures (Audio CD)
This has got to be one of my top ten favorite albums in the 90's. This thing just keeps growing on me the more times I listen to it. Tracks like "Mo Murder," "Ain't No Reason," "Searchin' 4 Peace," & "Ghetto Blues" are smooth and soulful, perfect songs to relax and kick back to. "Killing Fields," "Rumors & War," & "No Pretender," are haunting with their melodies. "Low Down" is an excellent track showcasing Souljah Boy's strong potential. Not to mention "Thug Devotion," which is a nice lil' party track. I honestly can find NO faults with this album. Even if you're not a Bone Thugs fan, I'd say this is a MUST HAVE!

5.0 out of 5 stars the epitomy of rap at its urbane finest, May 8, 2002
By

This review is from: Mo Thugs Family Scriptures (Audio CD)
this is how rap is supose to be,REAL,and thoughtfull.and it doesn't hurt to be angry either,or sad.this album represents everything rap originaly was before it became POP to compete with boy bands, and bowed down to the fcc.it also represent every known urban ill.such as despair and hopelessnes (ghetto blues),the frustration, rage and the inevitable vengefull clash with the curupted law(no pretender),or the strugle to find peace in the cold hard reality of ghetto life(searchin 4 peace),or just the sheer brutality of urban life and war fare (rumors and wars, and the killing field).

1. Intro-nice intro i'll give it 4*

2. Searchin' 4 Peace-great song about redemption, nice beat that has mood to it.5*

3. Ghetto Bluez-this song is one of the best on the album.its not just mellow and smooth, but its also real gritty, and well bluesy.gr8 sad urban song 5*

4. Killing Fields-this is also one of the best.the mood of this song is soo dark, and atmospheric.and the grave yard shift lyricz are almost prophetic, and mysterious. R.I.P PAUL TOMBSTONE O'NEIL,AND CARETAKER.its sad this group never reached its potential. 5*

5. Ain't No Reason-I LOVE ken dawg,but this track is kinda so so,but his lyrics are str8- 3 *

6. Take Your Time-tre had the potential, but they kept missing notes,at the end but krayzie bone saved it.still a great song.3 1/2 *

7. Welcome to My World-II tru has to be one of the hardest female rappers i have ever heard.i'll give it 4*

8. Thug Devotion-5* hands down gre8 track

9. Here With Me-this is where tre gets really out of tune 2*

10. Playa in Me-the beat [stinks],wich is a shame sense the combination of ken dawg, and II true is good.3* on lyrics alone

11. Rumors and War-gr8 corus and beat, the guitar in the background is perfect, plus flesh-n-bone just shreds the song 5*

12. II Tru-4* gr8 song just listen to their flow

13. Low Down-4* i love souljah boy he str8 clowened on this song,so did krayzie bone

14. No Pretender-aj from II tru, krayzie bone from bone, tombstone from the graveyard shift and the other guy from poetic hustlaz just went str8 arkane on this track.this song blows NWA's f**k the police out of the water just by style alone.the part where they load their guns while police sirens are screaming in the distance getting closer, and them telling each other to hurry up loading their guns before the cops come is just scary, urban drama scary.and when the cops arrive they just unload on the cops!,all you here is just the guns, and sirens going off, then the song starts and jazz deliver's the coldest line out of the song "you got your blue suit, you got your nine but if you pop one time my trues are are gonna back up tight and i'ma end mines" D@MN!.plus this was a gr8 segway to an even more darker song mo murda just D@MN!. 5*

15.Mo Murda-man this is the song that made me wan't to get krayzie bone's solo album.his solo song on THE AOW album also made me wan't to buy his solo album aswell.the art of noise sample of moments in love is pure geniuess.he turned it into a hauntingly dark harmony murda anthem 5*

16. Family Scriptures - Mo Thugs Family-the whole mo'thug family just went OFF nuff said 5*

just listening to this album makes me even more P'OED over the fact half the mo'thug roster left!....*sigh*.this is the mo'thug equilivant to east.1999 eternal.the best of the mo'thug compilation.followed by the good second one,and the above average 3rd album.the rap hip/hop community verry rarely make music like this anymore

5.0 out of 5 stars Another masterpiece from the Bone crew...., February 25, 2000
This review is from: Mo Thugs Family Scriptures (Audio CD)
When this cd came out, Bone was still riding off the success of their E.1999 Eternal cd, which was still selling at the top of the charts and going 7 times platinum. This cd came out in late 1996, and it contineued the success of their previous effort. This album has some differences in it however. DJ Uneek isnt behind the boards on this one, its Krayzie Bone instead. And there are alot of other talented artists on this cd besides Bone. Bone however, is not to be taken lightly on here. The Poetic Hustlaz tell their story of hardtimes with "Searchin 4 Peace", and the GraveYard Shift tell the realities of harsh urban life in "the Killing Fields" and "Rumors & War". The beats to these songs are INCREDIBLE, though Uneek didnt do the production. Ken Dawg, who does the fantastic "Playa in Me", sounds like the next Too $hort. II Tru is a female duo (both MCs'), and they represent on "Ghetto Bluez" with Layzie Bone, on one of the best tracks on the album. Not as strong as E.1999 Eternal, but still a great album from Bone and their roster of raw talent. Dont forget about Soulja Boy, who represents on several tracks on the album. The only flaws of this album: NO Bizzy Bone, and a couple weak tracks. I like every track except for #10 (I alwayz skip that one), and there are a couple that are mediocre, but the rest are BANGIN'. Definatly buy this one!
