Brilliant!,

This is the single funniest stand up I have ever heard in my life.
I mean, tears were rolling down my face the first time I heard "Downtown Downer's Grove," it's just brilliant. Its original, unique, super funny and the material hasn't aged a bit. I missed him in his prime (I'm currently 19 and bought this disc about a year ago), but I know he still performs, so hopefully I'll be able to catch him live sometime. I should also mention that its pretty clean material too, nothing over PG on the whole thing, which is great, as I prefer my comedy clean. Emo Philip's stuff is golden, its the kind of jokes that are made better by his performance, but would still be laugh out loud hilarious if you were to just read a transcript of his jokes. Being able to pull that off takes talent, way too many comedians rely on outrageous performances to enhance weak material (I'm looking at you, Dane Cook), but not Emo. I can't understand why this guy isn't more famous, this stuff is classic.

I saw Emo on TV when I was a teenager - 15 years ago - and I haven't been able to get his bit out of my mind since. Emo is a odd-ball comic with some of the funniest/strangest material you'll ever run into. If your ready for something different, E=Mo2 will satisfy your jonesing for a good-time, laugh-out comic.

When I was little my parents would play this Record, not CD or Tape an actual record and I would laugh by head off. When I saw it was available on CD I didn't hesitate to buy it. Emo's timing and story telling quality truly make him a comdedic genius. Even if you have never heard of him get this album and laugh like crazy.

This is a great Emo collection that I've played for my teenagers over and over. The guy was fabulous. If only we had this on DVD!

I saw Emo at the top of his popularity in the late eighties doing the material on this album. It is probably one of the best routines ever created by man or Emo. The jokes and the goofy nerdy persona were in perfect alignment. If only I had been the type to wet my pants when laughing too hard.

Yep, this is amazing! Emo Philips' brand of humor is sharp, smart, creative, thought-provoking, and hilarious!! And he accomplishes this task effortlessly without any vulgarities. This performance is comparable to seeing Emo perform in-person - he's funny w/ his scripted stuff, but equaly as funny when he's goin' off-the-cuff and riffing on the audience. Surprisingly, Emo's remained somewhat obscure in comparison w/ other (much less talented) mainstream comedians. If you like offbeat, irreverent humor that makes you think (as well as laugh 'til your sides are in pain), check this disc owt!!!!

The good-natured and self-effacing comedian renown for profantity-free humor should, in fact, be even more renown for the originality of his uniquely creative mind. His material has not only stood the test of time, it has stood to the even greater test of repeated listening. Emo Philips is not just amusing but thought-provoking as well. I find myself not only laughing but agreeing to the point of wanting to know the man personally because of his ability to befriend his audience in a genuine and sincere way. And, yet, there was actually someone foolish enough to heckle his performance at the Hasting Pudding Theatre toward the end of this recording. The ONLY bad thing about finally hearing Emo Philips and his brilliant material is that it will set the bar for comedy so high to which only a very few comics can even aspire.

Brilliant and wacky -- that's Emo. So creative and funny, you'll listen to this CD again and again. It travels with us whenever we drive on a long trip. The cut "Equustentialism" has got to be one of the funniest and at the same time philosophically deepest three minutes and eighteen seconds you'll ever hear -- Emo at his very best. He's high on my list of people I'd most like to have dinner with. . . .

Emo is the greatest. Amazon, not the cheapest.,

Emo really is the funniest comedian currently touring. This CD is a high quality recording of a show.
I love Amazon, but this is too expensive(currently $30). This CD can be had for less than the 'sourcing fee'. Just do some searching...

Emo Philips, the name makes me think of UHF, with Weird Al, one of the ebst films ever made. But his character on stage in that movie is just like his performances of stand up. With an odd timbred voice and a jerky vocal delivery (I first thought he was "touched in the head") he leads listeners down garden path statments into hillarity. It is amazing that after the years have gone by the same jokes are funny that were back then as Emo didnt seem to write for a time period like many of today's comics, but instead wrote in a manner that didnt anchor itself in current events exactly. though the sets are reletively short he keeps the stories and comments going on subjects ranging from leaving home, familly life and religoon with out being crude or directly offensive... in fact I dont recall a single swear of any type on either set- again a different stance than many of today's comics. Emo was neither Zany or two brainy to be funny, his witticism came from the mind as some one that observed life from an oblique angle. I highly recomend this for fans of comedy whether you like Bill Hicks, Kinison or Cook and Tosh.
