The Moa-Hunters of New Zealand: Sportsmen of the Stone Age by T. Lindsay. Buick is a great read to gain an insight into the discovery of remains and species of the giant moa in New Zealand. Undoubtedly the largest bird that ever walked the planet, this book postulates on the time of the death of the last remnants of the species. It also examines the camps of the natives looking into the remains of their ovens for clues about the species and their demise. A great read.
