3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun November 5, 2013

This game is lots of fun and makes you think. I took a chance and found it well worth the 99 cents.

Update: While this game is lots of fun I noticed it was sucking the life out of my Kindle's battery, even when I wasn't playing. Not sure what the problem is, but I uninstalled it and all is good now. I guess for some reason, on my Kindle, the program keeps running after playing.

This is a fun puzzle type game where you are locked into a building and you have to solve puzzles and find clues to escape each room. There is a button on the home page to link you to more games which takes you to the Amazon app store with access to all of what Amazon sells. Make sure that you children do not use it to buy whatever they would like.

There is also an Options button which allows you to learn:
* How to play
* Shut Sound FX off
* More games
* Shut Music off

There is a level selection button but the levels are locked until you escape the room that is a level. The object is to escape the room by finding all of the clues and finding the key to the door. Each level is different in some way and not only do you have to find the clues but you have to properly use the tools that you find and sometimes decode the clues. There are some items that you have to do in the right sequence and it makes you think.

This is a fun maze and it is a time eater. The graphics are OK and there is soft music in the background. The FX sounds are not bad nor did they bother me.

The game is not a long one and you will soon solve it. If you really get stuck there are walk throughs for the levels online at many game sites. I didn't have to use them but some levels can be a little frustrating. You soon learn to take nothing for granted and touch everything on the screen as some items are well hidden.

The game does access your identity and use the internet and write to your device storage. This was uncovered by a virus scan and it is also listed in the app's permissions.

Overall I like this game and I rate it at 5 stars. I played the game on a Kindle Fire with no issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars cute and fun September 7, 2013

So far I have only escaped three rooms and it might get tougher. But I am enjoying it. Easier than doors/level games but fun. [Update: I finished. The last few rooms were more challenging (I usually have fun but am not a genius at these games, resorting to the cheat after a short time of not getting it). I was almost at the "go to the cheat page" stage when I had a thought that a couple of pages of clues had the same number of data spaces and could be used together. The game was long enough that I was not angry at paying 99 cents - 3 rooms would have irked me. But it was a little short. I often take a few days - did I mention I am not a genius? - but this one took maybe an hour. But for 99 cents, the fun was good. In general, contrasting to the 100 doors type games, this one can be progressed if you are stuck by just tapping everywhere. A few times I gained a tool and had no clue where it had been. Swept up by my random tapping. That might be why I was able to avoid the cheats. And I was SO proud of myself when I got the last room without cheating. Go me! It is a good game.]

Started to give this 4 stars for being such a short game - only 14 levels but I did really enjoy it so decided on the 5 stars. It does keep your old brain working and each level is something different. Can't wait to play some more of this developers games and best of all- NO ADS!!!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but a very very old concept January 10, 2014

"You Must Escape" is an interesting puzzle game, but nothing new.

You find tools and apply them to objects to find other tools until you eventually find a key to the door. The same concept is as old as computer games, going all the way back to mainframe versions of games like Zork, and continuing on micro-computers with games like King's Quest.

The advantage here is that you can get the game for free when it's the Free App of the Day, and work at the puzzles at your leisure. There are no timers or scores, just a challenge to solve the puzzle at the pace you prefer.

The graphics are on the Spartan side compared to many current apps.

I've found games as the FAofD that delighted me with their originality, but this wasn't one of those games. However, the idea or mechanics don't have to be new to provide a challenge. The challenges here are light, but you may well enjoy them.

I played this game on a Kindle Fire 8.9 HD with no issues.

Recommended.

Although the game premise sounds simple, your only task in this game will be to find open doors and exit the room.

But don't be fooled because this game is extremely addictive and becomes even more challenging with each and every room you play next.

It's entertaining and easy to use but with interesting and challenging gameplay that won't bore you.

So if you are looking for logic puzzle game that will interest you longer time I can fully recommend you "You Must Escape" game.
