Another album from Bo Loc, November 29, 2004
This review is from: Mobfather (Audio CD)
C-Bo is back again with about his 4th album in the past year and a half. The quality of his last few albums were slipping and this one picked up a little bit, but still isn't near his best work (most of his earlier stuff). Has one classic track, and about 3 or 4 that I skip and a good number of quality tracks as well. Has 18 songs but it could have been a much more solid album with 13 or 14 good songs. Two thirds of the production duties are handled by Mark Sparks or Blaqthoven and they do a pretty good job. Only 3 of the 18 songs don't feature anyone, causing it to be a little worse than it should've been. A good album to have for his fans however.

We Come From Tha Streetz, I Like Gangster Sh*t, Husslin', Know Where 2 Find Me And Dont Want It......Go Buy this album and stay tuned for blocc movement 2.....

A let down..., December 6, 2003
This review is from: Mobfather (Audio CD)
First off...let me say that I have been a C-Bo fan since he pretty much got started working with Master P on West Coast Bad Boyz. I can't think of anyone who rips it up better than the ghetto cowboy...in his prime that is. I have no idea what he was thinking when he wrote the lyrics for this entire album. This isn't Bo. This is some watered down, slow paced, over-use of the word "dog"-ass garbage here. He TOTALLY changed up his style on this effort. The 2 stars I donated were for production reasons alone. If you know ANYthing about C-Bo...think back to when he ripped it up on Tales From the Crypt, 1 Life to Live, 'Till My Casket Drops. His rhymes on Mobfather sound like some weak-ass MTV battle where they let you curse and don't disqualify you. I'm all down for change. I mean, look at Lunasicc AKA Luni Coleone...night and day, right? But the new style is hyped and still on point. Bo just sounds here like he's trying to fit in to the "new" styles rap is heading to which are weak anyhow. I'm no hater...if it works for him, then get your money. But if you want vintage C-Bo at his best, then get the CD's I listed above, and don't think twice about wasting your money on Mobfather which is so different from what C-Bo is capable of...I'm starting to wonder if he even wrote the lyrics himself.
