Product Description

With the rising cost of fuel, parts and labor, it’s no wonder today’s driver is looking for ways to extend vehicle service intervals. Fortunately, you can offer a solution to help your customer minimize the risk of extended oil drains without compromising vehicle performan and protect your bottom line at the same time. The Mobil 1 Extended Performance (M1EP) filter line’s proprietary design traps and holds more dirt than the leading brand. The offering now includes both spin-on and cartridge oil filters, providing over 97 percent Vehicles in Operation (VIO) coverage. M1EP filters can be used with any motor oil. To obtain the ultimate protection for your engine - use Mobil 1 Oil Filters with Mobil 1 or Mobil 1 Extended Performance motor oils.

If you are do-it-yourselfer, K&N is most convenient (nut to remove, mark to rotate the last 3/4 turn). If you are a racing enthusiast, Mobil can withstand the max pressure (615 psi, Bosch 500 psi). If you are interested in changing filter as late as possible, Bosch-Distance-Plus (not other models!) holds the max contaminants (29.1g, Mobil - 28g very close). If you want max engine protection, Bosch is 99.9% efficient (Mobil 99.2% - very, very close).

Some reviewer has said that Mobil filters are K&N filters on the inside. I disagree. Peeking inside the filter hole (you can see only the inner drum and hint of filter material) cannot tell an "expert" how the filter is constructed on the inside. Why does K&N not declare their data (as Mobil and Bosch Distance-Plus-only do?) People who are at the top always boldly publish their data, and do not depend on hype.

Yes, previous version of Mobil filters had flow problems. That has been long corrected.

Read around the internet and you will find all kinds of lab tests etc that put these filters among the best. Two pack delivered to your door step for $22 is as good of a deal as you will find anywhere for a filter of this quality (P.S. get amazon prime).

Oil at change time (7,500 miles typically) is always in excellent shape. I have two Scion XBs (2008 & 2010) and have used only these filters with Pennzoil Platnum full syn- cams and top end looks like new after 50K.

P.S. if you need a great wrench to go with get Assenmacher AST Toyota / Lexus Oil Filter Wrench TOY 640 / 09228-06501 - 64mm

Had an unfortunate experience of having our 2008 Corolla serviced for an oil change in one of the new auto shops in our community. Their price of a $19 plus tax and other fees - oil change is a great temptation when you are saving money at that time. Stupid mistake. Now I believe that we really get what we pay for. The price of this filter is competitive with what Pepboys and Autozone are offering, if this filter will ever be in stock in those shops. Upon receiving the item, you know by the feel of it that it has top notch quality. I didn't have the luxury of opening one but based from the weight alone and in comparison to the used filter my new mechanic removed, I definitely felt pride in this purchase. I used this with Mobil 1 extended performance fully synthetic oil which I also got here in Amazon. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and pamper your car which I know is also taking good care of us.

This Mobil 1 M1-103 oil filter is an excellent and affordable oil filter. I got mine for my 2008 Toyota Prius in a two pack. I also use the 0W-20 synthetic Mobil 1 fuel economy oil. The maximum mileage is 15,000 but I usually go 10,000 to 12,000 because I drive in all kinds of traffic in Southern California.

I hate crawling under my cars to change oil. So I bought a Mityvac 7201 Fluid Evacuator Plus that allows me to remove the oil through the dip stick hole. I have posted a review for this device and it works great.

But I still had to get under the cars to replace the oil filter. What a pain. And I don't trust oil change places to do a good job. I don't know if they really put the right oil in, or really replace the filter. Plus I have had a couple experiences with over fill and once they didn't put the dipstick back in the car.

These filters are good for 15,000 miles. My cars call for 0W-20 Synthetic. Mobil doesn't make an extended 0W-20 synthetic oil, and theirs is the only oil I use. So, I replace the oil filter every other oil change. To verify that my oil is ok with changing the filter every other oil change, I sent samples to Blackstone labs. I sampled each vehicle twice to give myself confidence that replacing the filter every other oil change was safe. I also inspect the filter when I do change it to see if there is any physical damage. No problems. Remember, some oil is left in the system when you do not replace the filter, but this has not caused an issue in my vehicles.

For my vehicles, the oil change light comes on at about 5,000 miles. So, I am running the filters for 10,000 miles. I may be able to go to 3 oil changes for each filter replacement, but not sure I want to risk it, although I think these filters would do fine.

I recommend these filters if you are using extended service oil (and you change the oil accordingly) or if you do like I do and replace the filter every other time.

I'm a Mobil synthetic motor oil advocate. It is factory-fill for many high-end performance cars; and is used by leading racing teams in premier forms of motorsports. The 0W-40 is designed for high raving engines such as the overhead cam engines in European and Japanese performance cars. Since I'm such a fan of Mobil 1, I figure that I should go all the way with Mobil 1 oil filters. With Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil and Mobil 1 oil filter, I feel that my engine is protected from the beating that I give it.

Perfect fit for my 2008 Toyota Prius (I own two of them). Although these are recommended to last 15,000 miles, I still change mine at 10,000 intervals or less even using the Mobil 1 Extended Life Full Synthetic Oil that is also rated at 15,000 miles.
