Not great, but it does what I need it to do, November 24, 2005
This review is from: Mobile Action USB Data Cable and Software for Motorola C650, V180, V188, V220, RAZR V3, V3c, V360, PEBL U6, SLVR L7 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Installation on Windows XP laptop was very troublesome, with constant requests to restart the PC. After finding some info on Mobile Action website, was able to install successfully. I wanted to do two things: to be able to get pictures out of my Razr and be able to upload ringtunes. This software and data cable was able to do this reliably once everything was installed. Oddly enough, the File Manager function will not allow you to delete any files from the phone, even though the help menu shows how to do it. We have two Razr's and it would be nice if it could recognize which one was which. Not the best written software but it does what I need it to do and the price was reasonable. FYI- The Motorola software cost more and is totally useless, so do not consider that as an alternative.

Depending on what you are looking for, this may work., September 29, 2005
This review is from: Mobile Action USB Data Cable and Software for Motorola C650, V180, V188, V220, RAZR V3, V3c, V360, PEBL U6, SLVR L7 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
When I bought my Razr V3, I wanted to not only replace my phone but also my PDA for my calendar. The software installed ok on my desktop PC but would not with my laptop while docked (Dell D600). While using the software, I had some issues I needed to work around. The software comes with a cable that is a USB device in itself. After I would log off then back on, if the cable remained connected, the phone would not connect when plugged in. I had to unplug the cable then re-attach then it worked ok. This package will not sync your contacts so that is a draw back. The calendar sync works well but the Razr itself is limited as to information it contains such as location. The other parts of the software are pretty cool. You can download Midi files on your PC and upload them to your phone and you can also send pictures. I am using version 8.0. There is a version 9.0 but it will not synce with Outlook. This package is better than the Motorola Mobile Tools v3.0 which would not sync to a MS Exchange calendar. That made that package useless for me at work.

Version 9 DOES NOT sync Outlook Calendar or Contacts with V3 Razr, November 10, 2005
This review is from: Mobile Action USB Data Cable and Software for Motorola C650, V180, V188, V220, RAZR V3, V3c, V360, PEBL U6, SLVR L7 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have a V3 Razr and an IBM Thinkpad T42 running Office Pro 2003. The only reason that I purchased this software package was the fact that it states it syncs both the Calendar and Contacts in Outlook with the phone. After installing the SW, the handset manager does not even offer the option of syncing the Outlook calendar with the phone. Nor is the sync mechanism for the contacts robust -- the SW downloads the contacts from the phone to the laptop in a simplified spreadsheet, but there is no syncronization between Outlook and the phone WRT contacts. The ringtones and other files that come with the package are neither good nor bad. I certainly wouldn't pay money for them. In anycase, I was very disappointed in the purchase. Apparently version 8 DOES sync both Outlook Calendar and Outlook Contacts with the phone. I received version 9 and it definately did not.
