This book addresses the emerging technology for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), covering OFDMA physical layer as well as network technology. The book also includes information on IEEE 802.16e and WiMAX networks and also offers a comparison with other OFDMA technologies. OFDMA is the fastest growing area in the wireless marketplace, and the backbone of systems used in WiMAX. WiMAX is the technology that enables wireless users to communicate at any time from any location without having to find a WiFi hotspot.
Mustafa Ergen is a known contributor to the wireless networking industry for his research at UC Berkeley and his achievements at his startup, Wichorus, which was co-founded by him in 2005 and then acquired by Tellabs in 2009.
As the author of many works in the wireless field, Dr. Ergen recently completed an industry reference book, Mobile Broadband - Including WiMAX and LTE, in 2009 and co-authored, Multi Carrier Digital Communications: Theory and Applications of OFDM, in 2004.
Between 2000 and 2004, Dr. Ergen completed four programs at UC Berkeley including a PhD, MA, MOT, and a MSEE. He also graduated with his BSEE from Orta Dogu Technical University, Turkey as the Valedictorian in 2000.
