An excellent overview of cellular communications,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mobile Cellular Telecommunications: Analog and Digital Systems (Hardcover)
This is an excellent overview of the various cellular communication technologies in use today. The text has a good blend of general information about Analog AMPS, TDMA and CDMA, and also provides enough detail about each of these technologies to be very useful as an overview text (complete detail usually requires a perusal of the relevant EIA/TIA standards so I do not expect any text to provide that degree of information.) Please note I have only skimmed the radio and antenna sections of this book and cannot comment on those chapters.

I use this book as support in my job studing the reliability of an Analog Cellular System. It include's excelents reviews of AMPS, TDMA, CDMA and GSM Digital systems. Also i think it can be used in the Teaching of Cellular systems at College and University.

The book is badly written and has huge gaps.,

This review is from: Mobile Cellular Telecommunications: Analog and Digital Systems (Hardcover)
Prospective readers should heed the following warnings: (1) The term "cellular" is used here in the restrictive sense that excludes the PCS band. (2) The author may know his subject, but his grasp of English grammar and syntax is pathetic. (3) Much of the material piled together here was already obsolete in the first edition, let alone the second.

Analog and digital cellular systems in well-written volume,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mobile Cellular Telecommunications: Analog and Digital Systems (Hardcover)
I found the treatment of antenna siting and signal propagation to be especially interesting. The fresnel zone treatment is excellent, and I needed this clarity in a quick response microwave TV link. The exposition of antenna patterns and Rayleigh fading propagation paths affected by multipath aided understanding of this intense subject.
