Great Laptop Bag,
By
This review is from: Mobile Edge 17.3" Alienware Orion ScanFast Checkpoint Friendly Messenger (Personal Computers)
I have a 17in HP laptop and it was nearly impossible to find a bag for it, let alone a properly padded one to protect the machine during travel. This bag fits the bill. I have traveled on the train and a plane with this one, and it kept my laptop safe; it fit under the seat like the airline required; it was easy to access for the security checkpoint; and the bag is roomy enough to hold extra items, which saved me having to check luggage (which now costs a ridiculous fee). You really cannot go wrong with this bag--even if you have a smaller machine, buy this bag. It looks great, it is sleek and easy to carry and has room for everything you will ever need, and then some. It is also versatile, having both handles to carry it like a briefcase, and a detachable shoulder strap.
Also, the image seems to have been corrected--the proper picture is displayed here. The backpack version isn't as nice and has "alienware" icons and name-branding all over it, which looks cheesy and cheap. This bag is really nice and looks professional--the Alienware icons are subtle and very minimal.

It has a lot of room and a lot pockets to place things. The quality of the bag isn't the best. After using the bag for less than a week it started to fall apart. The shoulder strap pad ripped and fell off after only a day of use. Other seems around the bag a coming apart. For the price of the bag and how quick it started to fall apart I don't suggest this bag at all. This is one Alienware product I am very disappointed in!

Even if you don't own an Alienware 17" in. laptop, this bag has alot of functionality. Even a slot for sliding onto the rails of a roll about luggage suitcase.
The bag itself is very well padded inside and out. Surprisingly enough that chrome Alien logo, is a tuff extra outer padding where your laptop would fit on the inside of the bag itself. Can be over the shoulder strung, or handle carried. Long story short, this bag is one killer piece of work. I carry mine whenever i go on trips or out in the field. It holds all of my peripherals, and i mean all, plus essentials. Plus added extras, cords, etc., etc. It's a big bag, but not too big that it's a bulky suitcase. This one is a keeper.

Good bag, with a caveat,

Overall, this is a decent laptop bag. I recently purchased a ASUS G74S-series 17.3" widescreen laptop and the laptop space in the Orion 17.3" "fits" very snugly around the ASUS. I think the stated measurements of the bag are a bit generous, but it does fit. This is a chunky, heavy laptop and most of the other bags I evaluated that were supposed to handle a 17.3" didn't have space to handle anything but the laptop, if that. The Alienware M17x laptop is a competitive model to mine, so my hope was that this bag (being made for the M17x) would be sufficient. I use my laptop in a business setting, so a backpack format would not be suitable. Based on the reviews I have read, this bag seemed better rated than the model built for the Alienware M18x, which would have afforded more room. With these laptop sizes, the power brick that comes with them would only be considered "small" and "lightweight" in comparison to actual mason bricks. I also needed room for a book or two, a notepad and some accessories (mouse, extra power cable, etc.) This bag accommodates all of this without looking like I stuff a small pig in it. The Scanfast layout of the bag itself is also a plus. Considering the tight fit of the laptop, it would have been an additional hassle if I had to pull it out of the bag every time I went through airport security. I don't have a lot of "miles" on this bag yet, but things look good so far.
Caveat: The one common complaint I've seen in the reviews for both this bag and the one made for the M18x is the longevity of the shoulder strap/handles. I think I can explain this now. The construction quality of the bag shouldn't be in question here, but rather the position of the bag grommets for the strap's hooks. This Orion should be looked at as really two bags (or bag compartments) mated by a zipper. But the bag supporting strap (which is sewn around the bottom and side perimeters of the bag) and the grommets they are attached to are only surrounding one of the "compartments". This throws the bag's vertical orientation off and places an uneven strain on both the shoulder strap and the grommets, even when the bag solely contains the laptop. When the other side of the bag is filled, this effect is increased. I replaced the shoulder strap (a webbed number with a slip pad for the shoulder point) with a all-leather strap from an old Targus bag I had. I expect this will bear the strain a little better and, in the event of a failure, the Targus strap has a lifetime guarantee. The handles look better placed for balance, but this bag was obviously intended to be carried by the strap or mated to an extended handle of a roller suitcase (via a slot in the back of the bag.) I'm not entirely sure how far down the secure point go for the handles, but based on the reviews, it's only a matter of time before they fail if/when the shoulder strap goes. This bag definitely had a lot of thought put into it and I feel like the build quality is very good. But someone should have stuffed a laptop in it during the QA tests and walked around a bit before they finalized the design, like around CDG or DFW. It's in need of a refactor, after which it will probably be a great bag.

This was my first Amazon purchase. I needed a bag to fit my M15X (i7 model) which has HUGE diameters. Unfortunately, i couldn't purchase this bag anywhere in Australia. So i got this shipped to a friend in the US (typical how only the good products are restricted from overseas shipping) and he shipped it to me...and yes, it was worth the exuberant ($150+AU) shipping cost due to its oversized package.
This bag has EVERYTHING you could ever want: * Great padding for your laptop * RF pocket to stop reception being received by your mobile phone (good for meetings and planes# * Quality adjustable strap * HEAPS of room for all your peripherals #you can even chuck in a netbook in the middle pocket# * Internal pockets galore #mp3 pocket, business card pocket etc...# * A nice design. It's a great balance between casual outings and executive meetings. And for all those looking for a bag to fit their laptop, if it can fit the M15X #i7) then it will fit most desktop replacements. You pay for quality and this is a fine example of the saying `what you pay is what you get'. I rate a 5/5.

Great Bag for Alienware,

I bought this bag after many reviews, trying to decide which bag was the best for my new Alienware m17x.
Fortunately I chose this bag: The computer fits perfectly, the compartments are sufficient to carry the computer devices as well as my books and workbooks and several files. The bag comes with a mooring system to give extra security to your computer and prevent it from falling accidentally. The strap is designed to withstand the weight of the computer, which is the main objective of the bag. I have had laptop bags all my life, and this is excellent.

I don't plan on traveling with my laptop, but wanted a safe place to keep it and related items (manual, receipts, install discs).
This case fits the bill, and the price was better than I had found elsewhere.

AWESOME messenger bag!,

I have gotten quite a few nice words about the attractiveness of this bag. More than that it is well-built and should prove to withstand the test of time. I have worn out several messenger bags and this one looks most promising so far.
The security check features make it really nice to get through the TSA lines at the airport as you don't have to take out the laptop, I've even had a few TSA agents mention they LOVE those kinds of bags for scanning. Greta product, and the compartments inside are well placed and the padding and strap seem to be good for the long haul. I carry two and even three laptops with me in this bag for work and travelling, and its done well so far.

I bought this as a gift for my brother's 17" laptop and it wouldn't fit in the checkpoint friendly compartment, even though the description states it will fit large laptops up to 17.3". I tried to squeeze it in but it was a no go, which sucked because my brother really likes the bag. If your laptop is 15" or smaller this bag will work, but it's a dud for bigger laptops.
