This bag makes going through security so easy compared to my travels in the past. It was such a nice change to not do battle with my notebook to take it out and then hurry to repack it on the other while trying to redress besides. There isn't much to love about travels these days so to have a bag that makes it even a little more convenient truly is something to write about!

I have a 16.4 inch Sony Vaio. I've tried several bags and they were either too big, or too small. This bag not only meets the standards for "checkpoint friendly", but it also meets the measurements for under the seat storage. It holds my laptop, power supply, mouse, etc., plus has room for my portable video player and a few other niceties.

On the plus side, the product works as advertised and is a pleasure to use through TSA security (even if TSA employees were not always aware that these products had been approved). On the negative side, it ripped very easily and was unusable within three months after purchase with moderate use.

Great compartments and storage. Gets through TSA no problem, but...

The carabiner-like clasps that connect the shoulder strap to the bag itself have a funky design. If they are twisted or turned, which they tend to do with their unsual shape, they will release from the bag. That means the strap can suddenly release from the bag sending the bag and its precious contents to the ground. My laptop hit the ground, and hard, once before I learned to always check. Even so, the blasted thing has released a few times. I need to buy another one. To be honest, I wouldn't buy this one again because of that one feature. I don't know what your laptop costs, but mine was way too much to risk to poor clasp design.

I recently replaced my 17" HP laptop with a 15.4" Samsung. I was using a Tom Bihn Checkpoint Flyer for the 17" but it was oversized for the new laptop and I was heading out of the country so I bought this bag because it is TSA compliant and 3.5 times cheaper than a new Tom Bihn one.

I was pleasantly surprised at the good quality of the bag. It is not as heavily made as the Checkpoint Flyer, but consider I could buy it and then two more as spares and have a 20 dollar bill left over for lunch it is definitely a good buy.

The external pockets are great for things like GPS units, ipods, cables etc. and you can put items in them and find them quickly. I keep my GPS and car cable in one, my ipod, cable, and FM adapter in another and phone chargers in another. This makes it easy to grab one item and accessories without disturbing the other - and without digging through a series of cables to find the right one.

The internal pockets are nicely varied - one holds my Kindle, one holds my family's four passports, and there is room for 2-3 small bags for laptop accessories as well as two large zippered pockets that holds large documents or magazines. The pocket that holds the laptop is marked "Checkpoint Friendly" in big letters. At first I thought was a little cheesy, kind of like GM putting ABS brake logos on their cars long after every new car had ABS brakes. But then I realized it is there for the TSA folks to see when you open the bag and put it on the belt for xray. A nice touch. It didn't keep a security gentleman in Canada from making me take my laptop out but everywhere else it worked like a charm.

The material on the external pockets is not the same type of nylon that the main bag is, but is still seems tough so far. It does look like it might get frayed over time but we shall see.

As for the previously mentioned strap issues, I immediately replaced the strap that came with it with my Tom Bihn strap and there have been no problems. The Tom Bihn strap has a very secure clasp on each end and it cannot really come loose. This is one minor issue that Mobile Edge should fix, but you can buy a replacement strap at any Best Buy that should solve the problem. Not something you should have to do, but at this price it was not a huge issue for me.

Overall I am very satisfied with the bag.

I like this bag alot. The external pockets for cables and power adapters are really handy, and the non-slip should pad is great (in fact, I often use it with my camera bag).

The only negative, which others have noted, is that the connectors for the shoulder strap are a bad design. If you twist them the wrong way, they'll unhook themselves. When this happens and my precious laptop heads for the pavement, I must resort to my special golf words to express my displeasure. If it weren't for this one flaw, this would be a nearly-perfect bag. As it is, it's a very serious design flaw.

Well made. Goes through airport security without a problem. Liked it so much, my wife, who travels a lot needed a new case and I bought her one as well. Plenty of pockets for storage.

Now that airport security lets you leave your laptop in it's case, as long as it's the right kind of case, this bag makes getting through airport security a snap. Flying is so much easier with this bag.

I use this bag daily to hold medical equipment as well as paperwork. There are plenty of pockets to get the job done. The bag keeps its shape and sits flat. The only negative for me is that I would have liked the front compartment to open completely providing easier access to those pockets. There is a webbing on each side designed to allow the flap to open only a few inches.

So far, I had this bag for 4 months. So far, it is holding up well. I would say that this bag offers good value. Much better than the TUMI which is a waste of money. It is lighter than the Targus I had, albeit a bit smaller and not as robust/strong. The different storage areas featured can hold many small stuff. I wish the shoulder pad be made with stronger material.
