I bought this backpack as soon as it was available because I wanted a compact backpack that would hold my netbook, daily necessities, and a few other items. For that, the Mobile Edge has worked nicely; it has a good number of pockets (although I wouldn't mind one or two more), had a padded laptop compartment that was excellent for carrying my Asus EeePC 701 and its powercord, came with a phone carrier and two mesh pockets for water and/or other items, and was comfortable against my back. I carried it all day at a conference and was quite happy with it.

Only two problems. One is the styling; it only comes in black, with heavy silver metal ornaments which remind me of motorcycle jackets; I would have preferred something a bit livelier and less heavy (and other colors would be nice).

More seriously, the first day I used it, one of the internal pockets tore away from its side seam (I just had a light-weight notebook -- the paper kind -- in it). I sewed it back together, and it seems okay now, but the fact that it tore so easily wasn't encouraging. I'll see how well it holds up over the next few weeks.

All-in-all, though, it's a nicely designed backpack for netbook owners.

This is a high-quality, smartly designed, sporty backpack that's perfect for a 13-inch computer but perhaps larger than you need for a 10- or even 11-inch netbook. After all, the whole objective of buying a netbook was to have less to lug around, right? So doesn't buying this bag -- which comfortably holds my 13-inch Macbook -- defeat the purpose? While more compact than the average backpack, realize that this still has a large-enough-to-go-camping look to it -- which, if you want to carry lots of extra stuff, could be a plus. I do love that it has just the right number of pockets and compartments -- and if you want to keep your umbrella, cell phone and a bottle of water easily accessible, there are convenient exterior pockets for those (or plenty of room inside, if you prefer). One minor annoyance: once you pull the shoulder straps for a nice, secure fit, the straps do end up loosening a bit, so you may find yourself readjusting them fairly often. Still, I'm going to continue to enjoy this for my Macbook but plan to purchase something smaller for my cute little 10.1-inch Asus.

This is an AWESOME backpack. I'm starting my junior year of college this fall, and because I will have some layovers between classes, I needed something that would hold my netbook (Inspiron Mini 9), as well as hold my other school gear. This is perfect for the job! A couple weeks back I had purchased a messenger bag from another company, and while it was nice, it was really designed to hold a 15" laptop, so I had to find something else. I was really glad to find this, because it seems hard to find many bags that will protect a netbook but also hold 1-2 textbooks. I'm happy to say that this does both, and also leaves me room to bring my iPod, mobile mouse, a notebook, etc.

Also, on a another note, I love the all black with metal stuff on it. I'm a guy, and this is definitely a manly backpack. Not some girly man purse. lol.

So yeah, if you're a college student with a netbook, get this! Totally worth the money.

This backpack is wonderful; while small, it can carry all the essentials for school with ease and the laptop compartment is well padded.

My only gripe is that the pictures on Amazon show the backpack as having mesh pockets on the sides for water bottles and the like, but my backpack has no such thing. I was pretty disappointed, but I can fit my drinks inside the bag. Still, the pictures are obviously misleading. Make note!

Just about the perfect bag to hold our Asus 12" laptop (which is outstanding btw). Holds laptop along with battery, external mouse, external DVD, along with some room for other things; but still is light weight & small. Would purchase again.

This is a cool product to complement my netbook purchase. I guess you need a slim backpack to show you have a slim netbook. I found it comfortable to take around. It has good fit pockets to carry my usb dvd rw drive as well as portable hard drive and usb cables. A must have for road warriors like me to survive in the wild and the city likewise. Now if it also came with a powerful solar charger to charge the ever diminishing batteries! :) Guess I have to wait another 50 years for that!

I just received this backpack a few days ago. Based on the pictures as well as a few video reviews I found, I was kinda expecting a slightly bigger case. I was also expecting mesh pockets on the side, but apparently that model is no longer shipping. These are only minor annoyances though, as the backpack is still big enough to hold all the necessities: netbook, charger, spare battery, and the larger pocket in the front zipped area holds a Kindle 3 very well, and still has room for a few books and notebooks for college.

The construction seems to be well done except for the shoulder straps not wanting to stay at their set length for long periods of time. I do love the look of the backpack, though. It appears rugged and is padded just enough as to feel safe, but not too much as to add unneeded weight. While the looks might appeal more to men, the actual size of the backpack might appeal more to women as it's not overly large or heavy like some laptop bags are.

There are two sections to the bag, and two outside pockets for storing cell phones and the like. The small front compartment has two pen holders, a wider pocket (which is where I put the Kindle I mentioned earlier), and an inner pocket for storing an MP3 player that has an opening for headphones. The larger inner compartment has the storage sleeve for the netbook. I have a Gateway 10.2" Netbook, and it has extra room on both edges but the strap holds in the netbook snuggly. Not sure how a smaller netbook would work, but a larger one would definitely be just fine.

I can't comment on the TSA checkpoint compliant feature, though, as I don't fly, but it does open up fully which is handy for needing to put in larger items into the back compartment.

While this bag was cheaper elsewhere, with the free Prime shipping it was the best value from Amazon. I would recommend this bag for anyone that has a smaller notebook/netbook and wants something simple.

I bought this backpack for my son to use with his netbook. Most other netbook cases are flimsy pouches, or briefcase style bags. This bag looks like a miniature version of the backpack I have for my normal size laptop. It is well made, with pretty good padding. Over-all, I am very happy with my purchase...

I've had the backpack for over a month now and have used it for a couple business trips. They claim it will hold anything from 8.9" to 13". It fits the 10.1" Asus Aspire One I keep in it snugly enough - seems like it would fit larger netbooks a little better, but anything smaller would probably slide around under the restraining strap. The padding is decent and it is roomy enough to carry all I need for work (netbook, netbook accessories, notepad, writing utensils, etc.), but it isn't so large that it is heavy. It doesn't have any special breathing or wicking material on the back to keep you cool, but at this size it isn't a big drawback. A previous reviewer that mentioned mesh pockets for water bottles must have a different product - this bag has no mesh pockets on the outside.

Mostly loving my new Mobile Edge Scanfast Backpack. Use it daily for work and the computer pocket is the perfect size to hold my MSI Wind and power cord.

I would have liked more depth to the section that holds the computer. I can only see carrying 2, inch-thick books, along with the netbook.
