If you like 2D fighting games then this is easy to recommend whether you are a fan of the Gundam Seed anime series or not. It has enough modes to stay busy for a decent length of time. The mobile suits to me look pretty good for being a GBA game. The backgrounds look pretty good as well.

As far as gameplay goes this is pure fan service with an excellent dose of fun. The menus are basic but easy to navigate. Overall I recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a good GBA game. And if you have a link cable you can play your friends ( not sure if they have to have a cartridge or not).

I have always enjoyed watching the Gundam SEED anime and was curious about the game. It is a fun game to play, you play different pilots from either side, and then you get a password for each mobile suit you use. The only downside is that the game doesn't save your progress, you have to type in each password each time you play in order to open up new suits and characters. So far I have unlocked Rau Le Creuset. For each one character gained you have had to defeat everyone using two different characters. I unlocked Rau by playing Kira Yamato in Strike and Athrun Zala in the Aegis. When your playing a character you battle all of the characters that you can play or receive throughout the game, like Kira Yamato in Freedom, and Athrun Zala in Justice (which sometimes are suprisingly easy to beat). Although it appears that there are some suprise characters since there more than just the three slots for Rau Le Creuset and his mobile suit (a GOUF, i think),Kira Yamato in Freedom, and Athrun Zala in Justice.

In yet another move to cash in on "Gundam SEED," the last Gundam show to air on American TV, Bandai released a 2D fighting game for the Game Boy Advance. "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: Battle Assault" is the third installment in the "Battle Assault" game series (and the first to feature robotic mecha from only one show). You start off choosing one of 12 Gundam mobile suits to fight with, 4 of which are unlockable. Of course you can access these and other goodies either by beating the game several times or entering cheat codes in the game's "Password" section. But without a save feature, get really to enter those codes over and over if you want to, say, select your favorite fighter.

Each fighting mech has its own assortment of special attacks (which are a pain to do with the GBA's controls), a "Berserker" mode (which raises the power of your attacks), and super attacks (which can only be performed in Berserker mode, once). Each mech also has "Phase Shift" armor that cushions the blows of projectile and physical attacks but not from beam attacks. Keep this in mind and you'll come up with the one strategy you need to beat the whole game. Because somebody finally realized the problem with playing fighting games on the GBA, you can set the controls from manual to automatic, the latter of which simplifies gameplay dramatically by reducing all attacks to a single direction on the D-pad and an attack button. You also have the option of increasing the strength of your fighter while lowering other attributes.

"SEED" also includes several game modes which are of standard fare in fighting games and don't offer anything memorable. Normal (Story) Mode, for example, simply rehashes the story from the TV series. So after beating the whole roster your character will either get an upgraded mech, disappear for no reason, or get killed by the robot you've just beaten seconds ago.

Of course, devoted Gundam fans are likely to hit the Net or a retail store to get this game despite what this review says. I, a devoted Gundam fan myself, had already sold my copy for pocket money.

This is by far my fvorite game on game boy, and not beaten by much on other systems. Best gundam game since Battle Assualt 2 in ps1. The replay on this game is great, so many ways to play through the game from difficulty settings to 12 different mobile suit.
I didnt watch much of the series it is based on, but i am a big gundam fan and found ths game gret, especally compared to the console counterparts of the last few years, at leas the ones released in the US.

This game is awesome. I probably play it most often out of all my games (which includes other consoles).

Fun: 8.5-9. Gundam Seed is a great game, whether you like the show or not. The fighting in the game seems very SNK-like (which is good).

Graphics: 8.5. Very nice graphics. The backgrounds are always clear and never interfere with gameplay.

Sound/Music: 9.5. Sound effects are good, and the music is great.

Control: 9. The controls are almost natural. It takes a minute (or less) to learn how to play in Automatic, and maybe 5 minutes to learn Manual controls.

Replay Value: 10+. This isn't one of those games where you beat it and then think,
