So, here we are with Gundam SEED Astray's final volume. This last manga starts off with Lowe having to protect the newly-built Giga-Float from the customized Gold Frame Amatsu piloted by the expert soldier Rondo. As Lowe is about to perish, he is rescued by the mercenary Gai in his scale-system Blue Frame. Gold Frame bolts and Lowe loses 8; his computer! 8 has a little adventure involving rescuing some children from a soldier making civilians do slave work by using an old GINN to scare him away. Lowe finds 8 again and heads right to another mission. We learn that Rondo's intentions are to resurrect Orb in her own image and defeat the other factions in the process and use Gold Frame Amatsu to do it! After the Giga-Float goes on its maiden voyage, Lowe's crew's ship gets an upgrade after the first model, H.O.M.E. was destroyed. The Re.H.O.M.E., piloted by a hologram of George Glenn, sets off to a space station under attack by an unidentified Mobile Suit. Lowe engages Gold Frame once again and Gold Frame doesn't hold back at all; even breaking the Gerbera Straight! Lowe is on his last leg when Gai arrives in his Blue Frame Second L and gives Lowe his Oversized Blade and disables Gold Frame so that Gai can finish it off. With Gold Frame destroyed, the crew heads to the Mendel Colony to meet with Diller Rojo and his Underground Test Type Goohn in his quest to find a DNA sample of George Glenn.
The book finishes off with a short story about Miguel Aiman and his battle with Gai's personal custom GINN and how Miguel's custom GINN was destroyed so he had to use a regular GINN to fight the Strike Gundam...and lost.
Overall, this is a good ending to the Astray series. It didn't completely close up the story but had enough closure that you're happy with the ending. There's still a continuation of the story in X Astray but that's for another time. For now, this is a great book and a great series and definitely one to look out for now that Tokyopop is out of business!
