Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Get up to speed quickly and painlessly on everything wireless from PBX to PHS! For anyone entering or currently working in the ever-evolving field of mobile telecommunications, this book is a clear, concise, and easily accessible reference to just about anything you need to know-or soon will. It profiles all the current and emerging technologies, decodes all the buzzwords, and highlights such critical issues as interoperability, interconnectivity, integration, regulation, security and implementation issues, and more. No other reference covers it all so well: voice communications; mobile messaging; mobile computing; remote monitoring; wireless LANs; wireless local loop systems; web-based management; cellular digital packet data; satellite communications; teleworking.

Focusing on the practical aspects of these technologies and applications, the book unifies a broad range of topics not usually discussed within the context of mobile telecommunications, including the role of Java, agent technology, and the emergence of network computing. The author not only provides crystal-clear "executive summaries" of each topic, but also includes current information on standards, technology innovations, implementation strategies, and management.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good list of topics, no deep content, poor writing, February 20, 2001

This review is from: Mobile Telecommunications Factbook (Paperback)
I liked the table of contents however I couldn't see a structure within the sections. I'd like to see more diagrams, simplified technical architecture, chronology of technological advances and regulatory issues.
