2.0 out of 5 stars Fair introduction September 7, 2009
Format:Paperback
The book is quite short - 102 A5 pages. It doesn't go into too much technical details. In my point of view it will be a good introduction chapter for a book about mobile web design. May be that the target audience is not developers but non-technical people, that will run away when faced bigger one.

There are a lot of links and web references. On one hand it's good, as one can go and investigate further, but book assumes that reader goes and really checks the pages. I buy "physical" books to read them while I'm travelling or when I'm somewhere off-line. Scratching the topic and then referring to a blog just keeps me upset because I can not check it right away. So I had to "re-read" the book, extract all the links that were interesting and check them out later.

This is a nice little snapshot of the mobile world. But so much has happened in the time since this book was originally published that it is out of date. Also - you can find 90% of this book published word for word on the web.

Save your money unless a new edition is published.

This is an excellent beginner's guide to mobile development. While it doesn't cover advanced topics such as redirecting users to a mobile website, serving video, or JavaScript for advanced devices, it has an excellent introduction to mobile web design. It covers WAP, XHTML and CSS and the development process, how to test on different mobile devices, and even how to promote your mobile website.

If you're an experienced web designer and are interested in developing for mobile, I'd definitely recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or $
MAYBE 3 pages of useful text in this whole book (and that is being generous). In fact, the first 30 pages contribute nothing to the book and should have been cut by an editor. Read more
