This is a great introduction to designing web pages for mobile phones because it covers the basic knowledge one needs to understand the design challenges posed by mobile phones. It does require a basic understanding of XHTML, CSS, and a little Javascript to work the examples in the book but the information is great and the examples are thorough and clear.

The "for Dummies" series of books has developed a very respectable reputation for solid and comprehensive content, and that was why I bought this book. I am not overly disappointed, really. Technology is moving very rapidly in this area, but for a snapshot in time, this is the book to buy. It may be obsolete next year, but it covers introductory basics for now. I wish it had covered HTML5/CSS3, but it addresses that subject as "to be determined" despite the cover notes.

This book is frustrating. First of all it relies heavily on Dreamweaver and if you don't own DW you are left trying to create your own mobile pages based on tiny, incomplete examples that were created by DW and then inserted into the book. Frustrating. I gave the book 2 stars only because I got some value from it, but now I am off to find a book that show the entire process of creating a professional mobile website, or a least a couple of pages, and that also includes compete examples of the code.
