I used this video in my class last year it was very informative, I would suggest showing it in stages he can become boring to the students if you show the entire video at once and it became intimidating to some students. I did show the entire video to show all the different types and let the students design all three types. He is very detailed and the materials are not expensive. I purchased floral wire in buck from a wholesaler to use with my students and scrapbook paper pads. My principal was very impressed with the variations of the student's projects. I also purchased the book Making Mobiles (Schiffer Book for Artists)but it was too mechanical and technical for my needs and it focused more on creating metal mobiles and not as clearly explained. I did purchase the posters from crystal arts to go with the video to display in class as a visual aid.

We were studying Alexander Calder and mobiles, and I wanted a detailed, step by step approach for my high schools students. This film was perfect. Their projects are amazing and sophisticated, partially, I believe, as a result of this film as a resource.

excellent tutorial,
This review is from: Mobiles: How to Create Them (DVD)
I love this movie and I'm so glad to see it's offered on DVD. I used to get the VHS from the library every few years, but if you are an artist, crafter, or teacher it is definately worth owning. Even if I'm not about to create a mobile, watching this film makes me feel creative, and it is also very relaxing. The film demonstrates how to create three different styles of mobile and put it together just with wire and needle-nose pliers. You will learn how to construct clean and balanced mobiles. But the skills taught can be applied to many other creative endevers.
