5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful
Anti-Flag's style and message have come a long way... none of the new tracks on Mobilize sound alike, yet all are excellent in their own ways: "N.B.C." uses angry and heated vocals to show the band's contempt for global injustice while "Anatomy of Your Enemy" makes use of cold and apathetic speech to demonstrate the impassionate and unfeeling attitude...

Anti-Flag's style and message have come a long way... none of the new tracks on Mobilize sound alike, yet all are excellent in their own ways: "N.B.C." uses angry and heated vocals to show the band's contempt for global injustice while "Anatomy of Your Enemy" makes use of cold and apathetic speech to demonstrate the impassionate and unfeeling attitude governments have towards starting wars. Their lyrics no longer simply call attention to the problems of the world, but move further and inspire listeners to take action. Each song exposes the disgusting problems with our society and government, and could not be more welcome in times like these.

So far, I've only talked about the first half of the CD. The second half contains recordings of old Anti-Flag classics done at live shows. The band has improved some parts and changed a few things, but the spirits of the songs remain true, and sound amazing, especially with the crowd singing along in choruses, contrubuting to the sense of unity.

In short, this CD is a great addition to anyone who likes punk, or any kind of rock or political music for that matter; though certainly unique from previous Anti-Flag CDs, it stays true to their spirit: providing entertainment on one hand, but raising awareness and spreading the truth at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, September 10, 2003

This is my favorite Anti-flag Cd. Released at the time of the September 11th attacks, Anti-flag made this cd a timely plea for peace, and an attempt to make sense in this violent world gone mad. The first half of this cd is all new songs, and the second half is a live set from one of thier shows in Pittsburg.
This cd is simply amazing. For the price of 13 dollars, you get a new anti-flag cd, a live cd, and a sampler cd with songs from all the bands on AF records. BUY THIS!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rushed into production, and could have been better., June 22, 2004

This was the first Anti-Flag CD I got. Having first read about Anti-Flag in an interview in MRR in 1996, I figured it was about time I actually gave their music a try, and when it was done, I was hitting myself repeatedly for not getting Die for the Government when it came out back in 1996!

Now the only bad side about this CD, is that it could have been made better if given more time, but understandably, Anti-Flag wanted to have this one released in the wake of 9/11 to get their message across in the first song ("9/11 for Peace"), as anti-Islamic sentiment in America was soaring, and many of these people wanted revenge for what had happened.

But is being rushed into production really a bad thing? In Anti-Flag's case, I can honestly say no. The new tracks represent the Anti-Flag we all know and love (loud, fast, and brutal songs calling for peace, justice, and equality), and having been the first Anti-Flag CD I ever purchased (in 2002), the live tracks were good enough for me to gain even more interest and buy more of Anti-Flag's CD's, and even see them live (which I did in 2003).

4.0 out of 5 stars Anti-Flag Just Keeps Getting Better, September 13, 2004
This review is from: Mobilize (Audio CD)
After 9/11, Anti-Flag rushed to get this album out, but you'd never know it from listening to it. For the first 8 songs, Anti-Flag churns out some of the best material of their career - focused and angry, but with some great melodies and hooks. Highlights include "Mumia's Song," and "Right To Choose," a surprisingly touching ode to gay rights. The album concludes with a few live versions of Anti-Flag songs. They are good, but they fail to capture the raw energy of an A-F show. But it doesn't matter, when you've got a song like "911 For Peace." The album opener is one of the most moving and eloquent peace anthems ever penned, and it is worth the price of admission on its own.

5.0 out of 5 stars The music is some of the best the message is a bit ignorant, January 26, 2003
This review is from: Mobilize (Audio CD)
This is with out a doubt some of the best Punk music I've heard in the last decade. It's charged and energetic, and even though they have all the intesity I'd expect from any quality Punk band they aren't just thrashing around. Really the only problem I have with it is that the band is positioned in the camp of politically polarized bands.

Punk was always political, but it didn't used to be left or right, and now it's being divided. Honestly I'd really like to have a chance to talk to the guys in the band. They have very strong convictions, and that's admirable and a desirable quality. They however appear to be largely uneducated, so much of their belief comes from a raw feeling and lacks the reflection of practicality that one gains by running that raw emotion through a filter of reality and pragmatic thought.

So I definitely recommend this CD for anyone that loves "real" Punk at it's best, however just don't let the high energy addictive sound of the band lead you to their same world conclusions without educating yourself first.

NOTE: Self-education doesn't come from reading a news paper article, or listeing to politicians, or TV political pundits. Before you can understand the issues of today you need to learn a great deal of history, then apply history to the events of today. We humans are predictable creatures of habit, and we can learn more from our past than we can by only focusing on today.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Message, August 31, 2002

This review is from: Mobilize (Audio CD)
The band Anti-Flag has been around ever since 1988. Their CDs have gotten better and better. Anti-Flag has a strong political message. They put a lot of time into their music and lyrics. Anti-Flag doesn't mean Anti-America. If you are into heavy metal ... that talks about destroying the world, then this band won't suit you. This CD has the amazing 911 for peace song and also many other new tracks. It has live tracks (#9-16) and they are really good. It also comes with a A-F records sampler with a few good songs on there from different bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good cd, December 7, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mobilize (Audio CD)
this cd is great. the first 7 or 8 tracks are new songs and the remaining ones are live versions of some of their classic songs from their presceding 3 albums. all the new songs are really good, especially n.b.c and mumia's song, probably my favorite anti-flag song, the bass line is unbelievable. and the live songs were all recorded really well too. this would be a really good cd to buy if you haven't heard much anti-flag and would like to get into them, because it will give you a good flavor of their music, newer and old. but you can't really go wrong with die for your government, underground network, or a new kind of army. do not however, waste any money on the terror state or whatever they called their newest album, or you will find yourself asking, like i did: what happened to the guys who once took such important issues as racism, discrimination, oppression, freedom of choice, and war seriously; and who are these a**holes who wrote a song entitled, "war sucks, let's party" for their new album? and both new albums are musically no where near their old stuff, which really is amazing and deserves listening, despite the crap they play now. mobilize is a great cd, you should buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest A-f CD, August 20, 2003

This review is from: Mobilize (Audio CD)
Alright I was talkig to my friend one day about cds and he goes u should get Anti Flag Mobilize. I had never really heard them or really liked them but i went to get the cd. obviously the first song I heard was 911 for Peace and a loved it from right in the beginning with the cool distorted guitars the the tribute of MArtin Luther King Jr in the middle. this cd is a definite buy if your a punk fan. other good parts of the cd are the live versions of AF's greatest hits like Underground Network and Die for the Government. I think Anti Flag sounds better live than they do in the studio. best songs are 911 for peace, Mumias Song, N.b.C, The anatomy of your enemy, Underground Network(live) and Die for the gov(LIVE) This cd kicks ass and once you get get other great Anti Flag Cds and OCTOBER 21 THE TERROR STATE hits stores AF's new cd go get it
