We came to see the mOBSCENE!,

I don't know what a couple of people are complaining about...this is a really awesome track. I also enjoyed Paranoiac, although I can't really decide which one I like better.I have already listened to the new album and Manson is really loud, snotty, and mean-sounding, and composed the album with the musical genius he has always shown - all the things that have always made him great. Manson says he has come full circle musically with this CD, and its true. It has elements from all his past albums but is fresh enough to not sound old. I personally think Golden Age of Grotesque is his best work to date. My personal favorites are Vodevil in which he screams "this isn't music..and we're not a band". (S)aint is also awesome and so is The Bright Young Things. I've already reserved my copy of the CD and I can't wait!

A cheerleader's worse nightmare, being in a Manson song! This single has to be one of Manson's most promising works. The sound is flawless, he has never sounded better, and the songs are definitely not over/under produced. The lyrics remain true to Manson's style but the sound is different, in a very good way. If this is just a tasty morsel of Manson's new album, I feel that we all will be very happy with the full-length. The video to this song is pretty cool too if you get the chance to see it. I tried forever to hear this song on the radio or find a clip on the net, but to no avail. I finally saw the single at a local record store so I scoffed it up. It is worth the whole 4 bucks I paid for it. Definitely one song I will be singing along with for a while, well, until the May 13th when The Golden Age of the Grotesque is released to a very ravenous audience.

Good songs that wet the palette for the new album,

Mobscene is an amazing song, both lyrically and musically. And if you close your eyes and MAYBE squint a little, you can see the cabaret girls dancing, the absinthe bottles lying around, and the dancing. Paranoiac is a completely different style then his previous works, and really makes me curious as to what the remainder of the album will sound like. It very much resembles a slow MDFMK song, which makes sense seeing as how Tim Skold is their new bassist and helped produce the majority of the album. I came to see the mobscene, and I wasn't dissapointed.

Paranoiac is the reason to buy!,

Why hasn't anybody said anything about the B-side yet? I liked mOBSCENE but Paranoiac is the song I find myself listening to repeatedly. The inside credits suggest that this is Madonna Wayne Gacey's Remix verson of Para-Noir from the upcoming album "Golden Age Of Grotesque". It sounds dark and ambient and the girls distorted voice in the background is chilling, not to mention Marilyn's laid back... vocals. It's as spine tingling as the "Down in the Park" b-side from the 'Lunchbox' single from long ago!

If you haven't heard the entire song yet, then listen to the sample up there and multiply it a 1000 times, and if it doesn't make you want to grab the entire album, then nothing will.. MOBSCENE is far greater than I was expecting and I was expecting a lot!!.. Because, although I was very concerned after Twiggy left, when the band hooked up with Tim Skold, I was no longer worried.. Not that Twiggy wouldn't have added a lot (because I believe he would have) it's just that a change in main-collaborators will naturally create some change in sound, and since Tim Skold has already proven himself to be a very talented Musician, adding his own style to MM's already unique style, they simply couldn't miss.. I knew that this new line-up was more than capable of making great music together, and they did!!

2 songs for a CD single. I paid about 5 dollars for it! The Para-Noir remix Paranoiac sounds almost exactly the same, actually it offers less variety than the real track! 2 songs, no enhancement, no video, no real booklet. RIP-OFF.

Hmm, the *all-new and improved* Manson? I don't think so. It's the same ole lipshtick we've seen and heard before by the Man. Of course, if you're into it, then it matters not because "mObscene" does in fact rock... in its own little disposable teenangst kind of way. Fitting neatly somewhere in between "Rock Is Dead" and "The Beautiful People", the "mObscene" ripples with the same kind of big rock chorus and cheerleader chants that should find it a temporary home on modern rock stations across the country. Do I like it? Sure. Is it the best we've heard from MM&Co? No. However, it makes for an appetizing teaser for the greater feast to come. The B-side (B-side? sorry, no B-sides on a CD) track "Paranoiac" isn't really a song but rather a repetitive spoken word rumbling over plodding industrial riffs all lifted from the forthcoming "Para-Noir" tune. Nothing really exciting or worth noting there unless Manson lamenting his broken sex life turns you on (maybe it does?). Sadly this single is lukewarm Manson at its best and not indicative of the much bolder GAOG album that lay ahead. Save your dollars and buy the record as a whole next month and it will sound and taste so much better.

I decided to pick this up on a whim, being a fan of Manson since Portrait came out in 1994...it's ok. Granted, my tastes have changed, and I don't get super excited about Manson like I did in high school, but I don't think that this is my problem with the single. I was really hoping for some growth here, but this sounds like a mix of all of Manson's "big rock single"'s from the past few albums, like a middle of the the road mix of "The Beautiful People," "Rock is Dead," "The Fight Song," etc...not bad, just not that interesting. Even his first single from Holywood, "Disposable Teens," had something new and interesting to it, even tho it did sound like a rehash of "The Beautiful People." I have to wonder if the reason for this lackluster song is the fact that Twiggy is out, and Tim "Shotgun Messiah, glam metal-turned-industrial-turned-Manson bassist/producer" has something to do with this...However, the second track, the B-Side "Paranoir" is much more interesting. A keyboard based sample collage with occassional bits of Manson singing, this is something new and different from the band, and it shows a real growth. I will be eager to hear the original track that this comes from, and hopefully some more interesting new directions from the band on the new full length, in addition to the rock anthems for disillusioned teens that Manson is still so fond of.

I absolutly agree with joshua in this matter and really hope that mOBSCENE is just a promotional track and not the base of his new album...Sort of the Disposable Teens of the GAOG. I recomend buying it only for sentimental purposes, such as wanting to have evey one of his cds. Thats why i bought it...It is cheap though so, you really have nothing to lose...
