From the Manufacturer

Be comfortable, the design of Moby Wrap for it uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby. Be secure, the Moby Wrap comes with an easy to follow instructional guide, with the single stretch cotton and the width of the Moby Wrap, your baby is wrapped close and tight, insuring a secure hold. Your baby's head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. Be uniquely close to your baby, there is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body, along with the cuddly confines of the Moby Wrap. Preemie to 35 pounds. The Moby Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric measures 5.5 meters "Moby Wraps" and 5 meters "Moby D" in length and can hold up to 45 pounds, and most people feel comfortable carrying up to 35pounds. Versatile, there are many ways to wear your Moby Wrap. You can wear baby facing you, facing the world, sideways, or on your back. When not being used as a carrier, the Moby can be used as a blanket, pillow, or as anything else that comes to mind.

I have both the moby and the jade moby d. First, the jade silk is a beautiful versatile pattern. It seems that it would match with nearly any solid color. And it is nice as a new mommy who feels covered in spit-up and can't find matching socks for herself to have something that feels really stylish. The downside to the moby d is that it is harder to use than the plain moby. The moby d is not as long, and I can tell you that this post partum belly of mine needs all the length I can get. It is actually designed to not do that final wraparound around your waist. In addition, the silk panel doesn't stretch at all. The end result of these two changes is that it is more difficult to figure out how to tie properly. You have to tie it a bit looser so that there is enough fabric to get around your baby. If you leave too little, because there is no stretch to the silk, it will be too tight for your little one. Too loose and you are afraid that baby might fall out. As time is passing I'm getting better at it, but it is taking weeks. With the regular Moby, this was a non-issue. The reason I bought this was because I was hoping that the silk panel would make it cooler for my little one because she gets too hot in the moby, particularly the newborn hold. She ends up spending all her time in cradle hold, which makes me nervous because the head support is more precarious and I end up supporting her head with my arm. At any rate, the silk panel on the moby d does not make her appreciably cooler. All in all, I would probably not buy the moby d again as I find the moby to be stylish enough.

I do also have an ergo and a baby bjorn. I would say that for a true newborn (I've been using a carrier since she was 5 days old and she is now 6 weeks) the baby bjorn is the best.

I wish I had this with my first baby! Right out of the package it is super soft and great quality. The instruction booklet is very well written with step by step photos of the different holds you can wear your baby in. I got my newborn in the newborn hold on the first try. Love this product and recommend it to friends.

I loved the idea of the moby, and was really hopeful that my second child would like it as I was looking forward to all the different options for carrying her. Unfortunaletly, neither she Noe I could tolerate it, despite about 10 or 11 attempts to "get used to it.".

First, the thing is enourmous! There must be 8-10 yards (yes YARDS!) of fabric here! Trying to get that set up just to get baby into it is a feat in itself... And God help you if you are alone and it's raining out! I may be a bit uncoordinated, but IMHO this is a two person effort to get the thing on. Second, you have to really get it right from a wrapping and tightness perspective, or baby sinks down into a little lump at the bottom of the pocket (and in my baby's case, screams her head off... But that's another story!!). Finally, my baby unfortunately has reflux issues and the positioning for newborns with reflux is intolerable to them.

If you want something simple, that you can take off and put on almost single handedly while holding baby (almost), and I've never seen a baby who hasn't liked it: get a baby bjorn. So glad I didn't get rid of mine from my first!
