From the Manufacturer

Be comfortable, the design of Moby Wrap for it uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders. It is amazingly comfortable and easy to wear. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners. It is easy to adjust the fit of your Moby Wrap by varying how tightly you wrap yourself and your baby. Be secure, the Moby Wrap comes with an easy to follow instructional guide, with the single stretch cotton and the width of the Moby Wrap, your baby is wrapped close and tight, insuring a secure hold. Your baby's head can also be secured under the stretchy cotton fabric for added safety. Be uniquely close to your baby, there is not a lot of extra material or bulky padding between you and your baby. Your baby can hear your heartbeat and finds comfort in the warmth of your body, along with the cuddly confines of the Moby Wrap. Preemie to 35 pounds. The Moby Wrap is long enough to adapt to your growing baby. The fabric measures 5.5 meters "Moby Wraps" and 5 meters "Moby D" in length and can hold up to 45 pounds, and most people feel comfortable carrying up to 35pounds. Versatile, there are many ways to wear your Moby Wrap. You can wear baby facing you, facing the world, sideways, or on your back. When not being used as a carrier, the Moby can be used as a blanket, pillow, or as anything else that comes to mind.

Product Description

A wrap-around style baby carrier with the same great comfort as the original Moby Wrap, now with a destinctive look. The Moby D has a fabric panel in the center portion of the wrap that is made of either hand-woven cotton, Asian brocade silk, or fleece. While all fabric panels add aesthetically, the woven cotton and silk provide a piece of non-stretchy material to aid in supporting heavier babies and the fleece provides additional warmth. A few more differences to note are: the Moby D measures 5 meters in length, the Moby Wrap is 5.5 meters. The edges of the Moby D are hemmed, and the Moby Wrap's are over-locked. The Moby D's end knot is tied at the side, and the Moby Wrap's can be tied either in front or back.

They are very bad for your back!

So many carrying positions allows for many choices of holding the baby depending on the situation, and their mood.

I had tried multiple different baby carriers before getting the Moby D with limited success (including Baby Bjorn, a Maya ring sling, and a Hotsling). The Moby D wrap is by far the most comfortable and versatile! I was a little nervous that it would be hard to master, but within 5 minutes I had it all tied on and my daughter was happy in it (a first!). It's more comfortable than anything you've probably tried because it distributes the weight across your whole back and around your waist. I've worn her around the mall, while grocery shopping, running errands, or just taking a walk for hours at a time with no problems. If you ever need to change a diaper while wearing her, it's easy to pop her in and out without having to rewrap. We LOVE it!

We have two of these, one in a brocade and one in the hand-woven. The woven is definitely a bit more "grippy" through the panel, and it makes for some really nice carrying options, including back carries, which I would not do with most stretchy wraps. The brocade is a little slippery for back carries, but gorgeous on the front. This is a really nice hybrid between stretchy and woven carriers.

I have purchased other carriers- the first one i tried was a peanut shell sling. It wasn't comfortable, I didn't feel secure wearing it, and worst of all my son hated it. The next carrier I tried was the Baby Bjorn. My son LOVED it. Too bad within 10 minutes my back was killing me :(... so the next carrier I tried was the Moby D... WOW. People say these aren't easy to use, well I got it right first try. The directions are very detailed with full color pictures, you can't get it wrong. My son was asleep within 5 minutes of wrapping him up. It is also very comfortable on my back. I am actually wearing my son right now as I write this review! I love how this carrier truly frees up my hands.

The woven cotton panel in the front adds nice support for the baby. The first moby D I purchased was the one with a brocade silk panel and it was too slick to feel secure (although it was pretty). I would definitely recommend the cotton panel instead. Also I think this is a carrier that is better for going around the house because when you tie it on the fabric touches the floor quite a bit. I am really happy with my purchase and I would recommend this product to family and friends.

This was great for me for the first 2 months of my son's life, but once he got over 12 lbs and the temperature rose above 70 farenheit, it was no longer comfortable for me. For one, he didn't want to face me as he got older (by 5 months or so), so I couldn't really do ANY wraps or ergonomic carriers. But even if he'd been comfortable facing me, the amount of fabric on this made me too warm for the southern climate in which I live! I used it only occasionally when he was 2-5 months, and only in an attempt to soothe him or do a bit of gardening. I could only stand it for about 20 minutes at a time, though.

That being said, I did not find the wrap overwhelmingly difficult to use. There is a lot of fabric, but I think it was fairly manageable and might be worth trying for those in cooler climates. The quality was great, and it washed up in the machine perfectly.

We love our Moby D! It is by far the most secure wrap you will find. If you've seen moms walking around using other wraps or slings, you'll notice one thing in common - they still hold their babies anyway! Be it with their hand under baby's bottom, around their middle, or totally supporting them - their instinct is to not completely trust their sling/wrap. This is not the case with the Moby wraps. I can walk, shop, clean around the house, whatever - and I know that Fidget isn't going to budge.
The Moby is also quite comfortable. I've seen a TON of slings that hang across the torso on a strap, and/or hang down to the waist or lower - don't get one of those! They are very bad for your back! (Even if you don't get a Moby, I would never recommend one of those.) The Moby can be worn a number of different ways, which makes it easier to adjust it to you (body type, comfort, etc.) and your growing little one. Ours is a knit cotton fabric, like a t-shirt, but slightly heavier.
I will caution you to try out the Moby a couple of times before you try to put baby in it. (We found that an unopened 2liter soda bottle was the perfect weight & shape for practice.) However, it really only took me about 5 minutes to figure it out, and it helps that they include a little manual. They also have a website where you can watch a demonstration. Also, it can get a little warm in the Moby! There is a lot of fabric, which why it's so secure & comfortable, but it also means that you stay quite toasty.
The best part about it is that babies LOVE it. If Fidget is having a crabby day, won't go to sleep, etc. I just pop him in there and he is a happy (usually sleeping!) camper. We have used it several times just for the calming effect. It is perfect for those moms who are into "babywearing", as it promotes closeness AND security. My personal opinion is that it would be great for preemie Kangaroo Care - there is enough fabric to remain modest during the skin-to-skin time. Enjoy!

I love my Moby D. I wear it around the house when doing chores. This allows a fussy baby to be held and sleep while I have 2 free hands to eat and do things.

* It is great to go on long walks: it keeps her secure, covered, warm, close to me, and allows her see things and hear me at the same time.
* The D allows for a bit of fashion, and I like the difference in fabric.
* The stretch is really nice, and goes back to original shape after being washed. It does not stretch out too quickly.
* So many carrying positions allows for many choices of holding the baby depending on the situation, and their mood.
* Excellent way to bond, esp the kangaroo hold.
* Can be a bit warm in warmer weather, but then wear less under. It ends up looking like your shirt if you pull the straps over your shoulders like sleeves. You can layer it by wearing a jacket over and partially zipped up in cooler weather.
* Unisex colors are great for both my husband and me, and it's one size fits all so we can share the same one.
* Best way to travel in airports.

I would choose this over a hotsling. This is excellent for the price, and you get a lot more use out of this than the slings.
