Boston-based Mocean 8 is smoky lead vocals gliding on crystalline harmonies over luscious mixing layers of rock rhythms. 4 different song writers and voices fit together into a rhythmically active yet smooth groove-pop sound with a solid rock foundation.

Mocean 8 formed in late 2002 amidst the diamond-studded walls of guitarist/ singer Dan McQueen and hand drummer Jim Corcoran’s basement from a common love of groove rock. The feel grew quickly and the hooks started flowing, so Mike Hartman and his quick fingers, founded in 80-90s metal, were added to the mix to fill out the low end with expert bass work. The beginning of 2003 brought life long drummer and newly minted guitarist Justin Corcoran to add yet 2 more weaving instrumental layers to complete the Mocean 8 line up.

Mocean 8’s cohesive sound is crafted on it’s flexibility of instrumentation, vocalization and style: 1 voice suddenly breaks to 2-part melodic counterpoint, or up to full 4-part harmony; guitarists switch to drums and back to alternately reinforce rhythm or melody, sometimes within the same song; and 4 unique but comfortably-collaborative song writing styles pin their songs squarely into an approachable, energetic, rock center.

The band released its 1st album, a self-titled 7 song EP, in early Jan of 2004, and is now playing extensively all over the New England area.

I absolutly love the music of this band! It has its own sound that is unmistakeable from anything else that is groovy, energetic and makes you want to move to it. The musician ship is very good with intelligent lyrics...its hard not to like this band.
