The Mocha Manual was a easy, well written read. I picked up a lot of tips that I can't wait to one day put into action. I already expanded my business idea mentally and took it a step further, and I have been so excited at just the thought of the possiblity! I have tons of business books in my collection, but this is the first that I have that is something I can relate to. And it is written by a successful black woman about other successful black women, with my interest in mind. I enjoyed the stories of the good and bad from the other women. I've even visited a few of the ladies mentioned webite and was so impressed and encouraged by it. I came across this book by accident and I am glad that I did. I have already referred this book to a few of my friends. This is a book worth adding to your collection and will serve aspiring entrepreneurs as a excellent reference while venturing down the road of becoming their own boss. I also love the fact that Kimberly Seals Allers covered many different angles of entrepreneurship, including personal relationships. Do yourslf a favor and buy this book.

I understand the opinions that a business book shouldn't necessarily be geared towards women of color but it just so happens that the lifestyles and overall dynamics of the "Black" experience are different. This book was well written, full of resources and easy to follow. I enjoyed it because it specifically addresses experiences of black women and makes a good point to bond with it's reader.

Of course, the one thing lacking are clear case studies. Ideally it would be nice to have a book that details the overall start up experience and doesn't just skim over details like - how to create a business plan (I have never had much success writing one), what are the differences between earnings and income, how much time did it take to make a profit, how to incorporate, get a business license, etc. These are the stories I am eager to see.

I am neither a woman nor black but there's alot of information in this book for anyone looking to turn passion into profit as an entrepreneur. The book is well written and the information and messages go beyond age, race, gender and other boundaries. Ms Seals-Allers puts personal stories and case studies into the book and provides resources for more help at the end of the book. The book is highly motivating. The author presents a number of great tips on starting up, getting capital if you need it, networking, marketing, and so much more. This book is worth the price so don't wait for all of the copies to be sold. This reference book is a definate keeper.

First , I would like to say that it is fine that this book is geared toward women as it clearly shows on the cover. From what I have read women of color(not just African American women) are increasingly starting businesses. This was the third book that I read about this subject and thought it was great. The stories from other entrepreneurs was really a plus for me. They helped me confirm that I am doing the right thing in starting my own business. Great book and resource to add to my research library.
