Hailed by Variety as "a captivating performer," and a "show stopper" by Sing Out, "Veteran folk-rocker Sally Spring performs with the likes of Gene Parsons and Marshall Crenshaw as well as local luminaries Tift Merritt and Caitlin Cary. But Sally's stunning voice and captivating songwriting make her the heartbeat that keeps the whole enterprise pumping," The Independent notes. Sally casts a mesmerizing spell on both record and the stage and weaves into her own tapestry English folk-rock, bluegrass, old time music, country-rock of yore and today's alternative country along with touches of everything from New York rock to classic folk to pop. If you like Sandy Denny, Rosanne Cash, or Gillian Welch youll love Sallys music.

Sally Is Wonderful,

Best kept secret in music. She has her own voice, and writes damn good songs. This is the first record that really shows her talent. Better buy several copies at once so you won't have to fight people for it..

Marvelous Throughout,

It's a rare album that is such a pleasure to listen to from start to finish like this one. Anyone who likes americana music in the vein of Lucinda Williams, Roseanne Cash, Allison Krause, Shelby Lynne, or Shawn Colvin should seek this album and performer out - yet she is not exactly like any one of these more well known artists. Less gritty than Lucinda, but the album does feature some tastefully dirty electric guitar. Not as folk-pop as Colvin. Sally's songs convey their Appalachian roots, but she isn't as bluegrass as Allison Krause. More Asheville than Nashville. In short, she's a singular creative voice playing with consistent quality and authenticity. Check her out!

A voice like no one else, but one you'll want to hear.,

I first heard this wonderful singer-songwriter at the annual Folk Alliance conference. At least two people said, "you have to hear her", and I'm glad I did. Sally doesn't sound like anyone else I can think of, except maybe early Linda Ronstadt with a deeper alto voice. And this CD - the first of hers I've heard - is a joy to listen to. Sally has a fine group of friends here. Gene Parsons joins her for his tune "Hickory Wind" (performed both acoustically and electrically and Tift Merritt and Marshall Crenshaw help out on other tracks. Eight of the songs are Spring-penned and these are just great too. I particularly like "Red-Winged Black", whose lyrics remind us that in today's busy world of cell phones and more, we all need to slow down and enjoy the beauty of life. The arrangement for "Ain't No Ash Will Born" (again with Parsons' backing vocals) is another track I keep replaying. In the cookie-cutter world of singer-songwriters, Sally Spring stands out. Check out a few samples. You'll find yourself hooked too. Steve Ramm "Anything Phonographic"
