4.0 out of 5 stars Music for the listener who likes a little bit of everything, June 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Mod Squad: Music From The MGM Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Busta Rhymes has a great track, which also featured on his E.LE. album. This song has a crowded party feel to it which is great! Then there is Everlast a great blend of blues, folk, rap, and stitched together with an acoustic guitar sound. Alana Davis has a song that seems like a follow up of her 32 flavors album, good stuff. Next up is the duo with Curtis Mayfield and Lauryn Hill, this track is one of the best mixes between old school veteran and new solo artist.. This track alone is reason enough to buy the album. One track that took me by surprise is the Crash Test Dummies. I have never heard anything by this group other that the hit "Mmmm...." All i have to say is these guys really have grown and artists, the track is just screaming with mature, full sounds. Bjork is always a pleasure. She is an artist with an ear for producing and isn't afraid to bring the full range of her voice over the music she has put so much time into. (check out homogenius)The very last song is a classic, nothing more need be said about it. Overall this CD has good songs and great songs, and if you don't like the good ones so much the great ones are worth the purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great new music from Alana Davis, March 28, 1999

I bought the album after hearing Alana Davis' version of "Can't Find My Way Home" on the radio. After comparing the two versions of the song (Davis' and the original from Blind Faith), I find that the older version is lacking. Davis brings a very smart 90's angle to the song that adds a tremendous amount of depth. The rest of the album is pretty good too... I liked the Bjork contribution especially. Both of these emerging female artists are really finding their voices.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well blended 70's and 90's feel, March 25, 1999

I sat through the movie (which was okay, not great) and all I could think of was what a perfect soundtrack this would make...and I was right...from the Mayfield number to Bjork and back to the very good Crash Test Dummies song, I have let it become one of those coveted cd's that gets to continuously run uninterrupted...every song brings its own coolness and if you're in a laid back, wanna chill out kind of mood, this is perfect. A special thank-you-god for the excellent Todd Rundgren redo!
