Nice tablecloth, but it shrinks a lot after first wash!,

This review is from: Cherries in Pink Tablecloth (Kitchen)
The design of this tablecloth is very retro and very cute; it even has a slightly faded look to it so it appears like it was a hand-me-down from Grandma rather than purchased new. This tablecloth even comes in an adorable little bag made from the same fabric that you can use for something else. THe one drawback to this tablecloth comes with the washing instructions and the shrinkage that follows. The instructions say to wash in cold and then dry without heat, which makes sense. However, I ran this tablecloth through TWO cycles of heatless drying and it was still incredibly damp, so I had to hang it outside, which was fine. I was a little disheartened to see how much the tablecloth had shrunk, though, when I put it back on my table. Now the ends come just to the edge of the table, but do not hang down the sides. My table is 36x60, so if this cloth was indeed 66 inches, there should be a little overhang on the far ends. There was a little when I first got it, but not anymore. I wish this cloth was offered in longer sizes. It is very cute, though.

Perfect for a vintage kitchen,

This review is from: Cherries in Pink Tablecloth (Kitchen)
I received this tablecloth as a Christmas gift. I have an early 20th century kitchen that we have been restoring (vintage fridge, stove, and all), with red as an accent color. This tablecloth is perfect for it! It's adorable vintage-style fabric, and fits the table in our kitchen perfectly as well. It is really an ideal touch for a period kitchen.I haven't yet run it through the washing machine, so based on the earlier review, I will treat it very gently and be careful not to shrink it. So far, though, I am completely happy with this tablecloth. Now I need to figure out what to do with the very cute pouch it came in -- also in vintage cherries fabric, trimmed with rick-rack. (Edited to add:) Since writing this review earlier, I have laundered the tablecloth a few times and have not had any shrinking problems. I washed it in cold water and dried it with no heat. The tablecloth is still cute and I still love it... the only problem is that my cats love it too, and like to sleep on it when I'm not looking!) :)
