This book cuts through the mystery of putting an award winning finish on a model car. It answers all of the questions I've ever had about the subject of scale model finishes and has significantly improved the overall quality of all my models. Its well written and leads the modeler step-by-step through all the processes.

It will change your point of view on how to finish your models forever. It made a 100% improvement on my painting and finishing skills. It gave me courage to try new techniques withoout fear or remorse in doing so. Every page is full of interesting content. A pleasure to reffer to again and again.

I have been into car modeling for the past year and have read several "how to" books. They were all deficient on the basics and I got frustrated in reading them (even the ones by other well known modeling authors). Pat Covert's book goes step by step through all of the modeling processes from removing mold release on styrene plastic leading up to the high polish finish on the final paint coat. The book answered all of my fundamental questions, particularly regarding how and when to use the various types of aerosol paints, including the challenging automotive lacquer paints. I would highly recommend this book for the beginner to intermediate level of car modeler.

One thing that attracted me to try scale car modeling again was my wife and the local librarian found a book by the author Pat Covert. I was very very impressed with the way he was able to get scale car models too shine on the outside and look so realistic in all other areas. This book goes into more details of obtaining that finish that his other book just touch on. However useful it is for a beginner like myself, it really is geared more for those with experience in car modeling and who are possibly looking to compete in car modeling shows. I would recomend this book for the more serious modeler. But any information that Mr. Covert has provided I have found very useful including this book.
