Book Description

October 1, 1998
Everything you always wanted to know about modeling, but didn't know who to ask. The only 'how to' guide and source book on modeling. Endorsed as a book for everyone interested in modeling as a career, by Eileen Ford and FORD MODELS, INC. National & international listings of agencies, photographers, magazines, designers, catalogs and other clients. Samples of zed cards, headshots, resumes, cover letters, start-up costs, rates & residuals.

MODELMANIA is not a fluff book filled with sensationalized stories, gossip, or even glamourous photos. It is, however, a complete and comprehensive source & guide book for everyone interested in pursuing the legitimate modeling & TV commercial industries as a hobby or a career. It is directed towards all types of talent needed for the fashion industry, from Men & Women of all ages with potential, to Ethnics, Babies, Kids & Teens. MODELMANIA also encompasses commercial (product) print, parts modeling and the very lucrative TV commercial market for All Types of Real People.

MODELMANIA is simply the quickest, least expensive means providing the detailed step by step process leading to personal success in the areas of Fashion & Commercial Print, Ad Campaigns, Magazine Editorial, Catalogs, Runway, 'Parts' Modeling, TV Commercials and more. It is the Who, What, Where & How of Modeling, filled with Exercises and Samples. Most notably, MODELMANIA is a powerful Reference Guide & Directory covering the dominant U.S. modeling & TV commercial markets of New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, as well as Europe, Japan and Smaller Markets in the U.S. & Canada.

Models are making more money than at any other point in history. In an unconventional field, void of college degrees and special training standards & guidelines, countless individuals interested in pursuing the modeling & TV commercial industries are hungry for, and in desperate need of, expert advice, information and sources they can learn from and refer to as an integral component of success. In an industry filled with scams, phoneys & rip-offs, the need for an accurate, yet inexpensive 'how to' guide & source book on modeling is in great demand. Well, here it is!

Editorial Reviews

Review

"MODELMANIA is a book for everyone interested in modeling as a career. If you have any questions about modeling, your questions will be answered in detail." -- Eileen Ford, FORD MODELS, INC.

From the Author

My purpose for writing MODELMANIA is, 1)...To ease one's introduction to the modeling industry by providing them with comprehensive, accurate information and contacts, 2)...To provide a solid base from which to start from in as little time and with as little money as possible, 3) To provide a highly cost-efficient, all-inclusive guide for success in the modeling industry, and 4) To provide a welcome alternative to the bogus, rip-off schools, agencies & individuals that prey on unknowing, innocent souls.

This one guide above all others is by far the most powerful, informative, single source of information on the subject of modeling you will find. The biggest reason I know this is true, aside from my experience and the valuable sources, is the complete honesty from which this work is based. It's true, we all want to hear that we are wanted...that we will be successful...that we will be big stars...that we have the right look. The only sure confirmation of any of those statements will come when a client is willing to pay you for those services...when you get the check in the mail!

I write and speak from a factual point of view based on over 14 years of experience and success. I have attempted to give you the pros and cons the industry may potentially offer you. In no way do I hide the reality of the business. I have simply given you the unique perspective of being on the inside looking out. Hopefully, through this publication, based on my experience gained by my personal success & body of work, you can make better decisions, avoid more mistakes, and waste less time and money in the pursuit of your individual dreams. I wish you all the success in the world. Good Luck!

1.0 out of 5 stars A book about modeling by a headshot photographer, October 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Modelmania: The Working Model's Manual (Paperback)
The author's title (photographer) leads the reader to believe that he is an expert in the field. In fact, there's a lot of misinformation in this book. Buyer beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real opinion from a real person!, April 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Modelmania: The Working Model's Manual (Paperback)
I stumbled onto this book as a total idiot to the world of modeling. I followed its steps as far as to contact Karl. After talking to him for only a few minutes I knew he was giving me the "Real Story" on the business. His advice as a photographer and as a model has helped me get a confident start on a promising career. This book cuts through the smoke and mirrors and gives the reader the realistic approach to the business. This small investment will save you literally thousands of dollars in starting a modeling career as well as educating you on all the scams, and illegitimate agencies that paint a newcomer a false picture. A must read for all wannabe models and parents who are interested in a Modeling career for their child.

1.0 out of 5 stars Professional Model from Europe, June 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Modelmania: The Working Model's Manual (Paperback)
The writer is a complete idiot. He is nothing more than a headshot photographer (and not a particularly talented one at that), and writes at a first-grade level.

This book is worthless trash.
