5.0 out of 5 stars Industrial Tech at its best!, February 19, 2004

This review is from: Moderate Extremism (Audio CD)
I love this CD!! What a joy it is to hear a new artist putting together industrial music that is as fresh and innovative as it is exciting and true to the genre. And without the usual snarly growled vocals. *V*I*R*G*O*'s voice is one of the best things about this release. Not only can the boy sing, but he's got a wonderfully distinctive tone and style that fit right in with the meticulously-layered density of textures. I particularly love his gorgeously haunting rendition of the scandalous Billy Holiday song "Strange Fruit". Contrast that with the harder-than-Nails putdown "U Suck", which I defy anyone to listen to without getting up and thrashing. The bonus tracks are a delight, and I'm totally nuts about the Paul Dye mix of "U Suck". The only thing I could even compare it to is the Metalmix of Depeche Mode's "Something to Do". Stripped-down, with all kinds of tingly wacked out sounds peppering you from odd directions, and continuing into an all-out 11-minute Noizefugue. Fantastic stuff. MORE, PLEASE!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! Ground-breaking!, September 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Moderate Extremism (Audio CD)
Ten years from now music critics and fans alike will be wondering why it took them so darn long to discover *V*I*R*G*O*!

Embracing elements of electronica, goth and even payming homage to jazz standards like "Black Coffee" and "Strange Fruit," Moderate Extremism is eclectic and exciting.

This is not an album for the faint-hearted. *V*I*R*G*O*'s lyrics explore the darkest parts of human nature with brutal and uncompromising honestly. But if you are up for the challenge, the rewards this album offers are great.
