“If circuit racing like the WTCC floats your boat but you prefer a bit more GT and V8 and a bit less GTi and FWD, then this book should be right up your pit lane.”
Evening Standard (UK), June 1, 2007
“[Friedman’s] superb informal photographs help capture the human side [of GT racing], the approach to race day, winning and losing, politics and the emergence and evolution of today’s top GT racing teams.”Modern GT race cars are some of the fastest, most exciting race cars this side of a Formula 1 track. The GT classes offer an amazing variety of cars from the world’s most exciting manufacturers—Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Lister, Corvette, Porsche—all piloted by some of the top drivers in motorsports.
Author and photographer Dave Friedman brings 40-plus years of racing photography experience to the GT arena. Whether shooting pre-race festivities, the stress and toil leading up to race day, or the drama on the track, Friedman’s practiced eye always gets the perfect shot.
In addition to Friedman’s fantastic contemporary photography, Modern GT Racing offers a look at GT racing from days gone by. Sidebars take the reader inside Carroll Shelby’s Cobra works of the early 1960s as well as highlight significant cars of the 1960s and 1970s, tracing the lineage of these rare historical racers to today's top cars. Modern GT Racing is the next best thing to a ticket to Le Mans.

Ok. Everyone here is aware author Dave Friedman needs no introduction. This book is clearly a must-have for any endurance/sportscar fan. From the early days of the Corvette factory team to Aston Martin Racing to the Ferraris at Le Mans, this book has it all! The color photography is SUPERB (as in all Dave's books) and there's plenty of it. Readers are also treated to historical sections that pop up every now and then that discuss past GT legends such as the Ford GT-40, Shelby Cobra, and Ferrari 250LM to name a few. Seriously, if you're a fan of the American Le Mans Series, Le Mans, or the FIA-GT, then YOU ARE HEREBY REQUIRED TO BUY THIS BOOK. It's impossible to be disappointed! There's a little something for everybody whether you like the Corvette C5-R/C6-R, Ferrari 550GTS Maranello, Aston Martin DBR9, Saleen S7R, Lamborghini Murcielago R/GT, Maserati MC12 GT1, or smaller GT cars, this is the book for you!

A must for any fan of modern GT racing. The book is very well laid out, and the photography is top notch. Addtionally something I really liked about the presentation of the photo's was that they were almost always on one page, I don't like when an author trys to make a photo so large it covers two pages, with a huge seem (book binding) thru the center. It ruins good photo's, This book has none of that. It is mostly great photos with brief explaintions of were and when the race was and what car you are looking at. If you want an indepth analysis of each season this is not it, as stats and statistics are left out. They are not meant for a book like this, its more of a wow book that any car fan can apprecaite. I would have liked to see it Cover from 1999 thru 2006.
The great thing is this book, covers the cars you can still go see race today, the cutting edge of GT racing. I plan on taking mine to petit lemans this year and getting as many autographs as I can :) I highly reccomend this book, and hope alot of race fans who are not familiar with the GT racing pick it up, it will show why you should be watching these fabulous cars. Its about time GT racing gets a book like this, Thanks
