4.0 out of 5 stars Biblical Hebrew made easy!, June 18, 2011

This review is from: A Modern Grammar for Biblical Hebrew (Hardcover)
A Modern Grammer for biblical Hebrew is an amzazing book! I cant recommend it enough. The Author takes you step by step through the basics of biblical hebrew. The book covers everything you would encounter in your first year hebrew. It also touches on second year themes. The vocabulary lists are included. words that appear 79 or more in your hebrew bible are listed along with names of places, people etc.

The author takes you through detailed readings out of your hebrew bible and guides you along the way, especially psalm 1. Prof Garret writes in an easy to understand format and tries not to overcomplicate things. The book also includes an appendix on how to use the BHS as well as the upcoming BHQ (Hiblica Hebraica Quinta). Hebrew Grammer and syntax are studied in detail. The chapter on hebrew poetry helped me a lot.

I recommend this book for beginner/intermediate students.

The best of all is the book comes with a CD that helps with pronunciation. I am also going to buy Amos: A Handbook on the Hebrew Text (Baylor Handbook on the Hebrew Bible) (Baylor Handbook on the Hebrew Bible) by the same author.

I am very pleased with this presentation of Bibilcal Hebrew. I currently have a copy of Weingreen's Hebrew Grammer and think that Garrett's text compliments it very nicely.
