Of the locomotive books that I have purchased, I really like this one. The price is really good for what you get and there is a good mix of modern GE and EMD locomotives covered here. I was pleasantly surprised by the photos and the narrative. Some of the SP photos are fantastic (U33C and AC4400)! It does not have all the detail that a gear head would desire, such as tables of data on each engine. You could go online for that on Wikipedia or something. But, the book is a very comprehensive cross section of the diesels produced by GE and EMD in the time period from 1966 through 2000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, January 23, 2012
Beautiful book. Bought this as a gift for a young boy. Lots of photos but also lots of information for when he grows into reading more than picture looking. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys trains.
