This review is from: Modern Nations of the World - India (Hardcover)
India: Modern Nations of the World provides a concise retelling of India's history, from the roots of civilization 5,000 years ago, to modern times. It sticks to the facts and conveys information in a relatively unbiased way. The book touches on all of the key events of India's history including the Indus Valley civilization, the Aryans and the Vedas, the Mauryan Empire, the Gupta Empire, the Mogul Era, British colonization, and independence. It also covers geography, religious development and beliefs, ethnic diversity, the arts, culture, and notable people such as Ashoka, Gandhi, Nehru, and more. The book has black and white photographs throughout. Written for a young adult audience, the book is also ideal for the adult novice. It's a wonderful springboard for a more in-depth exploration of the many fascinating aspects of India and her complex history.
